Accepting/Recieving Item Requests weeks later

Is there a limit on how many responses you can recieve from your requests per day? Because there appears to be a major backlog. I'm receiving responses to my goal item requests a week later, & I'm only just receiving requests from my neighbors now, when they requested these items weeks ago. Can someone explain this please? I'm so confused!

We can send as many as we like but we can only answer 20 requests per day. When 20 have been answered, the leftovers go out the next day (after S8's reset) Unless you send out more requests to all nbrs & then that new request overrides the previous ones. The requests continue to carry over each day until they've all been answered or you replace them with new ones. This is why you sometimes see a request several days old and several weeks in your case. Hope this clarifies.
