I tried my ones on the board and in storage and nothing happened so I spent even more gems to buy the 3 trees and still nothing happened because you have to raise them up. It's not looking good if every other step requires gems. 90 gems per tree and I have a bunch in storage and some on the board. Instead of a monthly fee, this could be reasonable for those wanting "extra", but I would hope for that money the storyline will be longer. Since at least one person has started, we can see if there actually are more storyline expansions (included at no additional charge) down the road. Plus I imagine there will be other opportunities to buy into the storyline. And maybe this witch will somehow give a bonus for "regular" events.
