Parts disappearing for Beaver Dam Event

Is anyone else having trouble with their parts disappearing??

I sent deliveries and got some of the golden kernels (I'm not sure what they're called) and when I use them on my trees (the gold one ones I bought with gems) the game resets and the tree "deactivates" as though I never had the part ... This has happened FOUR times... Please Storm8 moderator, HELP.

I'm not going to play again until I know this is resolved, and I may ask for a refund on the 8 X 16 gems I've spent on the trees. I've just recently started playing again, and this is disappointing.
