    I can't figure out how this works. None of the upgrade windows to any of my buildings show any type of discount.

    This is the upgrade screen for my level 7 Sparkling Mine; looks like the discount is number of gems to buy crafts needed.

    I don't know for sure because I pay no attention to the # of gems, but 128 is 80% of 160 so I guess the usual cost is 160 gems.
