I find best iron source per energy is the iron rich rocks. Flyger babies (I have over a dozen) tend to keep me in coal, and they are easier to get out as they are multiples of one item rather than searching for loads and loads and loads of items. Really worth crafting if you can bear collecting all that bacon. : )

Thank you so much for posting the quick reference. The flying pigs are a great option since that can help with bacon for energy trade and their timers aren't so bad. Also I *LOVE* Harvey for silver since his timer is so short.
I have to say I am very tempted to spend 440 gems to skip making a friend for the wild flamingo in goal 11. Have to make 2 and needing 10 faux flamingos is incredibly time consuming in terms of crafts with everything from faux flamingos, beams, blocks and perfume being in the workshop. Why can’t perfume be crafted in the potion shop? Currently for me, it is not the random drops that is the issue, instead it is the high number of workshop crafts.

Moat supplies craft disappears upon goal 11 completion, with reward of 2 romantic moats. Romantic moat unlocked in market for coins.
How many Pink Flamingos should I buy? What is the limit and what is our sweet spot?
With a 4 hour timer and unsure if the drop is random or not I tend to over do it. Advice welcome.
