Why does the package say 7 days when the quest finishes in 3?
Why does the package say 7 days when the quest finishes in 3?
Apologies- I'm sure this has been asked and answered but I haven't been able to locate it.
Will it count -and auto complete if we craft the compass and other requirements for future chapters ahead of time?
Thanks!
So I am in the stressful boat where the adventures haven't been dropping anything but the cactus. I have the Gothic queen's keep. Is it possible that the Gothic variety is shut off? Just a thought I decided to send out into the ether.
Spirit wind, Have you seen my question? I don’t suppose they are giving us more time? I think the drops are controlled and those of us who spent money are being ignored so we will have to spend money to finish! We have lost the feel of a medieval kingdom! No progress on story line! No fun! Maybe be time to put it to bed! I’m along time player but don’t like being played! Fair is fair. With all the problems in the real world don’t need more stress. Old, tired and unhappy! Thanks Storm 8!
The 3 days is your personal deadline to finish the event.
This event it was possible to start at a later time or date, but the event will be over for everyone (no matter when you started) in 7 days.
Most people are on the 3 day deadline with you, but there could be players who started 3 days later, and they will be able to buy the value pack until their personal deadline runs out.
Been reading through the forum and am sad for those with inactive neighbors. My two S8 IDs are GridGirl and RedBullAngel if you need help in future events.
Yes after you complete the goal to craft the first of each item you can work ahead by crafting the total needed for the event. There is only one goal for each of the crafts so after you make your first compass you can continue to craft the 11 total needed to upgrade the pyramid.
I also found oasis trees in storage long after sending out adventures. So far though, with “only” three falcons and one desert tomb, I’ve kept up with the goals fairly easily. Please don’t panic if you aren’t getting drops of anything except the cacti. It’s still doable. And keep checking your storage
Sad to hear that so many are struggling with the hieroglyphics.
Update: I still have not received anything from the adventures other than cactus. (For fun, I even sold my Queen's keep, bought a King's keep and tried that for a couple of days - no difference! - which in truth is what I expected. I sold that one and am back to the Queen's)
Having said all this, I do think this event is doable and so far only spent 4 gems on speeding up my tombs last night so I could do one more collection before bed. Today I am on day 8 and a strict schedule of collecting every 4 hours - 5 collections. I'm hoping to get the 11 more I need today and maybe some extras for the 20 I need tomorrow. You only need 10 the final day. I've also already completed all the other items like the compasses and nectar. Thank goodness I'm working at home!
Tomorrow or day 9, IMO, looks the most challenging. My strategy is to stay up until midnight (which I usually do anyways) and make sure I send out my requests to neighbours before I go to bed. I hate waiting on receiving these as you have little control, but thanks to the many new neighbours who added me or accepted my invitation earlier in the event, i hope to have a good chance at waking up to most of the Ancient Artifacts.
Those of you who managed to receive an extra tomb, are indeed lucky!
Staying up to invite is a good idea. In what time zone is the midnight turnover?
Level 36 it only asked me for grits. I'm not sure if higher levels are asked for the pasta I hope it won't delay you too much.
I would love a poll. If one is set up, it would be nice if it could include both did you finish and did you enjoy it.
S8 is in California so turnover is Pacific Daylight Time.
I'm a long time level 50 & had to give 7 pasta. Hope others are able to easily handle it. Since the beginning I've always kept my crafting buildings working. A strategy lower levels hopefully employ to make tasks easier.
[QUOTE=meme1098;1626164]S8 is in California so turnover is Pacific Daylight Time.
Well that would explain why it is also at midnight my time, as I too, am in Pacific Daylight.
I started a day late, which means I’m on chapter 7 with 3 days to go. I have 3 hieroglyphs, and need 15 to finish chapter 7, which means there is NO WAY for me to finish on time. I’ve spent most of this event waiting to start the next chapter. It’s ridiculous to not allow late starters to catch up. It’s ridiculous to have to wait 11 hours (or spend 70 gems - what?!) to start a new chapter early. We should be able to progress through an event when goals are reached. What a waste of time.
I’d love to give my option in a poll. This could have been a really cool event without the stupid wait times for starting new chapters.
I've stopped doing adventures so I can work on the 40 mysterious riddles needed for making the Sphinx. I get one to spawn about every 7 farm houses. So I'm doing one every hour or two.
This has to be my fav event in awhile; mostly because of how much stuff we get. We get a Pyramid, some ravens, some tombs, some sphinxes, some oasis?s, and Cleo!
I sent out a lot of adventures in the beginning so I?m feeling very lucky about my stats, I have 3 tombs, 4 ravens, I?ve been able to craft 2 Sphinx, and 4 Oasis!!! I have never been this lucky with adventures before and it?s exhilarating. I think this is the first adventure prize I?ve gotten since starting to play again, and I just like having a full layout!!
I am going set a timer for the middle of the night to collect from the tombs. The sad thing is that it still won’t be enough. Oh man. This event has been hard.
My understanding is that clicking on begin a day or so late, used to just allow you to get a heads up on the forum of what was required, but that you would still get the full 10 days to finish the event, however with S8 now giving SW that information there is really no need to delay starting.
Once you get the crafts for scarab compass, pharaohs nectar and oasis elixir, you are making all that are required for the rest of the chapters aren?t you? You should not be upgrading the pyramid until the day resets so you can keep collecting hieroglyphics etc. As soon as you upgrade, these will not drop, well they don?t usually and the crafts disappear.
I am on chapter 8, but I have everything prepared as much as I can right up to chapter 10, I am just delaying the upgrade to get in 1 more collection from the tombs.
This is a really good point because this particular storybook event on days 7-10 feels like a community event in disguise.
The chapter work has been really un-even. On Days 1/2 we had to do things like visit ponds, wells, and Old Thomas, and on Day 8 we have to set timers to go off to collect every 4 hours from tombs? This had made the event a bit boring at times, IMO. I wonder if the load could be evened out between the days in future events like this? So we arent working as hard on days 8/9/10 and we can do a bit more on days 1/2/3? To me, that would make sense with the chapter format.
S8 please increase the hieroglyphs drops, or make tombs drop 2 each time, to fit a 12 hour day. The 4 hr timer for random drops like the glyphs just isnt fun in a chapter style event! Especially in one with such great artwork — we are stressed we won’t get the great looking prize.
I have sent plenty of adventures and have received nothing but cacti. I am on chapter 7 and have my timer on but still short on hieroglyphs. I don?t know how will I manage to collect the remaining 49 in just 3 days. When it comes to luck in this game, I don?t have any. Will keep trying but the fun factor is missing from chapter 7 and onwards.
That IS lucky! It's a sign that all my therapy has worked that I am not jealous but am genuinely glad for you and anyone else w similar luck - I have had adevturing fairly non stop and have..... LOTS of desert cacti! Lol!
I sped up my toms w gems when they were at 6 gems to do so; figured that is a 50% discount and I can't physically collect enough items from it Within waking hours otherwise.
I would LOVE to get a tomb! May we all! : D We can decorate around them w the leftover cacti. : )
If I didn't read the forum, I wouldn't know I was missing out on adventure drops. I wonder how many thousands of players just think the cactus is what you get, a never know that other players have received other items.
I'm also running very short of hieroglyphs. Will be two lots into the next day to finish ch 8.
Not looking good for chapter 9 with all those neighbour requests.
S8. Please increase the hieroglyph drops. Or drop one from an adventure, that would be nice.
Is anyone here who would accept to respond to my request for Ancient Artifact ?
Thanks ;-)
First of all: I like this event, it has been fun to play and I didn't have any trouble finishing the chapters on time so far. I was always finished way ahead of time. This wouldn't have been possible without the wonderful information provided by SpiritWind, so thanks a lot for that!
Apparently I also was incredibly lucky with my adventure drops. I only sent out a few extra ones and I've got two extra falcons an one extra desert tomb, all of which I don't really need. I've stopped collecting a while ago because I have all I need. I think this is very unfair when I read how many people struggle, especially with the desert tombs.
Now to my question: I'm on chapter 9 now and I need all those 20 neighbour requests. I read somewhere that there's sort of a cap on those, I think it was 20. If you send out more requests, it gets backlogged and only sent out one or two days later. So I only chose 20 of my active neighbours. But that means that everyone of them has to respond. And even if they do, that will take all day (I'm based in Europe, so no waiting overnight for me). Can somebody tell me more about this neighbour request cap, how high it actually is and the best strategy to deal with it? I really wish I could craft the amulet already. I just hope I'll have enough time tomorrow to hopefully finish chapters 9 and 10. Thanks in advance for your answers.
I agree it's unfair. The balance of this event is way off.
I was one of the lucky ones too, but that also means doing nothing for half the event and swimming in Tombs while other go without. Not a good feeling.
I don't know anything about Neighbor request caps (sending them out).
Are you sure you don't mean there's a cap on requests/ Ancient Artifacts you can receive? (and presents count as received requests too). That's what I thought.
I sent out requests to all my 323 Neighbors (in batches of around 80, never sent out more than 100 at once!) and I had all 20 within 30 minutes.
Thank you so much awesome Neighbors!!:love_heart:
I would love to help other players with requests. Add me as a Neighbor! Storm8 ID : RonjaR82 , Kingdom Name : Fabletown
Good luck everyone!
I was trying to find more information on this last night as well.
I couldn't find an "official source" (like a post in the Newbie Guide https://forums.storm8.com/showthread...or-new-players , or the Wiki, or somewhere kind of summarizing what players have observed), so I think it may have been that "if you send too many requests at once, the system lags" conflated with "you can receive up to 20 gifts per day" (Does anyone get they many? Wow! 👀 )
I have said 20 requests a few times in this thread myself, so I was doing a quick search for where I "first read" that and didn't find a source.
I can only share my experience, and hope others have more observations/information!
So Far, sending out smaller batches seems to work alright. Going over 20 requests TOTAL hasn't affected me today, BUT sending out OVER 20 at once did seem to make it lag during the last round of neighbor requests.
Today I sent out smaller batches, first 1 request then 10 then a few more one at a time as other neighbors sent their requests through.
About 25+ in total? (I've previously limited myself to 20, but as you mentioned since we need 20 accepted requests I was hesitantly seeing when the system would start lagging).
I have noticed some delayed incoming Request notices coming through (restarting the game helps but not always), though my neighbor-accepted-your-request notices are loading in nicely after a restart.
The accepted requests i've received are a mixture of some I sent in my first batch of 10, and others I sent individually after seeing that those neighbors were active/online (I have a feeling some neighbors in different timezones stayed up late and went to sleep. 😊 ) .
This is of course a limited observation over the last 2-3 hours; i'm not sure exactly where the hiccup lies, my best guess is that it may be in sending Bulk/Too Many requests at once.
I have seen other people in forum posts saying that if you send too many, the system lags and then sends the requests in smaller chunks until you're all caught up. So your requests get backlogged, and then you can't send any new requests until the system finishes sending out the old.
I don't know if that kicks in after a certain number (is 20 at once just many people's "safe cutoff"?) or because of bulk requests.
If anyone was able to find a source or has more info, i'd love to hear too! ❤️
EDIT: Annnd RonjaR82's game was apparently fine with 323 requests in batches of 80-100+. Wow. 😂
I wonder if the system just handles request loads differently on different days/activity levels and we've all developed some little rituals that get passed on. 😅❤️
I'll keep checking for neighbour requests and respond as soon as I see them, but I'm giving up! The hieroglyphic drought has defeated me!
The hieroglyphics drought has done me in too. As with day 7, day 8 has me needing two collections into day 9 in order to start the next chapter. Unless miracle drops happen, I won't even get the 20 needed in chapter 9 before the event ends.
You can send out as many requests as you want. Over the years I have accumulated over 1000 neighbors and since there’s no easy way to know who is still playing and who isn’t, I send out requests to all in batches of about 500. You can try to resend to the same neighbors on the same day but the system will tell you that those requests did not go through. The system somehow only lets about 20 or so responses per day. So the first day you’ll get around 20 responses. Some neighbors see the requests on subsequent days so you’ll get more responses over the subsequent days. The maximum number of responses I have received to my 1000+ blast is about 60.
I agree, you can send out as many as you want. But I see a problem with that only if we have to send out 2 requests for a different item in the same event. In this event it was first maps and now artifacts.
I don't want any old requests for maps showing up to anyone, when what I really need is artifacts.
So first round I send out smaller batches and the least amount I can so hopefully there aren't any map requests still lagging behind when I get to second requests.
Last requests, send out as many as you want.
I was thinking about that too and wondered if S8 would automatically expire the old requests when we send the new ones.
Thank you, are1000! ❤️ That's really good to know- definitely a lot higher than I thought!
