Please note there are some gaps in my notes from the last Storybook, but I'll be able to fill most of them in gradually. I do NOT speed through the story, so some of the missing information for later chapters will have to wait until I unlock them. Also, some acts always auto-complete for me (e.g. raising animal, tournament progress, etc), which makes it hard to patch details.
Areas in red indicate where lower-level forests have different or reduced tasks.
You will usually need to collect fewer items from harvesting, evolving and mining;
You won't have to raise the 2nd prize animal (Will o' Wisp) as high;
Your Ch.9 breeder will be different ( Aquatter instead of Bamboon);
Your cost (in gems) to skip SOME tasks will be lower; cost to unlock chapters early seems to be the same;
Some tasks (or portions of tasks) will not be required of you.

Whenever it says "Feed any animal n times" it does NOT need to be the same animal; you can split the feeding among multiple animals.

Again, why is only the last animal of the new element? Since I won’t get both of the monthly animals, I again won’t be able to actually fill this month’s habitat. I guess it’s time to stop buying those at the beginning of every month...

I hear you. I bought the Mythic Mesa as soon as I got Greek Griffin. And then... crickets. I've been fuming over it all month. I finally beat the Greek Harpy, so I'll soon have a second Mythic type. But compare this to last month when we had droves of Seafoam animals, two of which were pure Seafoam, and only one habitat allowed for the element. Now it's the opposite. Very irritating to have events full of animals that are unrelated (or only barely related) to the theme except for that one last prize, which we may not reach.

Storybook auto-started for my main forest sometime within the past couple hours. So soon? I was expecting it to wait at least two days.
I decided to ignore it, but as soon as I hatched and fed a new animal... Tada! "Great job! [Chapter 1 Act 1] Go to the next Act!" So I guess I'm going.

Out of curiosity, why do some players choose to wait to start the storybook?

Waiting for empty nest or 2. Raising there food supply could also be a reason.

The Celtic Cub looks so much like the Hibearnate that I thought they had brought it back.

He definitely looks like an autumn animal more than a Celtic or summer animal.

The Will-O-Wisp also looks very much like a previous fairy, in my opinion.

Why no side goal to breed animals from chapter 7 and 10 ?? I always look forward to these during story books... has been getting me lots of animals I had missed prior to or in the start of my game play. This is sad for me
