Katbtodd, you are right about it! I just tested on a different account. The garnet was not a guaranteed drop per adventure. I received the garnet for six adventures then no garnet for the next four adventures. I do apologise for the wrong information I provided...
I hope the Mod will change post 2...

they did mention in the game that within the 8hrs after consuming the enchantment, you have higher chance(100% I guess) of finding garnet stone, and they will be harder(50% I guess) to get after the effect wears off...
do we ever need more than 1 garnet?
If,your lucky no I been at this over 24 hours now .... And some times you don't even get a garnet , 5'times,now ... No garnet ,,, and all the rest were fails

I have done 2 quests and have gotten 2 garnets. Im confused
Are you doing the Mount Despair Adventure ?(only at King's Keep/Queen's Court).
The other adventures will not bring back a Garnet.
Also have you checked your inventory? I did not see mine pop out after the adventure, it just showed up in my inventory.

I was really lucky; I was on my third quest when it popped up to craft it and I got it the first time. Now I'm waiting for the Respite to be ready to visit twice
I got the garnet trinket on my fifth try. I forced closed the game after the fourth fail. I do not know if that made a difference. Good luck everyone.
Now that I've finally got my dragon, I can now continue my quest! >
