Lightbulb Best food to cook to earn most income for bakery

I have prepared a spreadsheet comparing different items to determine which items produce the greatest income and XP points. Unfortunately this forum does not allow the import of Excel spreadsheets. I also found that it also depends on how much time you have to wait for the product to be ready to serve. I believe that double the preparation time will cause the food to spoil, so consider the amount of time you have to get back to the game and serve your items.

So, here is what I found for each time limit for the greatest number of coins:

The items closest to the top of the list within the same time frame are the items that provide the greatest (ROI) Return on Investment. You should realize that some items are not worth preparing since there is another items that provides a greater ROI in the same time.

If you have just 4 hours, why make valentine cupcakes or strawberry cake since vanilla cupcakes make more coins in the same as the others?

Vanilla cupcakes and strawberry cake both provide 57 XP points, so vanilla cupcakes is the best thing to bake in 4 hours.

Espresso is the only 4 hour drink, so that is simple.

Lightbulb A little bit of help

Well, what I like 2 cook is red velvet cake, pumpkin pie, sugar cookies, valentine cookies, lemon merengue pie, hot apple cider, earl grey tea, and love potion. They take from 16 hours to 2 days. While ur waiting, use gifts or block the door until the food is ready.  starrynight999

No, I did not consider hourly consumption, but if I knew what it was for each item, I could include it in the spreadsheet. I just looked at each item in the "cookbook" which gives you the cost, yield, xp, time and number of plates produced to create the spreadsheet. I calculated the net for each batch. Simple, really. The hardest part was trying to format it so it would fit somewhat properly. It doesn't look quite the same as it did when I entered it into the box below.

If the consumption for each item is different, and I knew what that rate was, I would have included it here.

    Any help is appreciated.

I just realized that you were talking about the hourly limit, not the rate. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I have tried to analyze the number of customers entering in a wave. The number varies as sometimes I count as few as 24 and as many as 30 in a wave. I've not timed the number of waves in an hour, but it seemed to be random so I did not try. It does seem that it approaches the same rate as those exiting the bakery. I guess I could use an average, but I don't really know what items they are going to order and it that is also random. I also don't know if each item takes the same amount of time to consume.

I also noticed that if I kept at least 30 tables with chairs, my heart rating never drops below 100.

I have observed some neighbors that have less than 30 tables and chairs, but have the rest of the bakery full of tables for tips. Everybody has a different strategy and reason for playing.

I was just trying to help the first baker with their question of which items are best in the least amount of time or ROI.

If you just consider net profit, Earl Grey Tea and Red Velvet Cake are the best investment, but that means your ovens and drink makers are tied up for 24 hours. I suppose you could fill your bakery with tables and spend the majority of your time tipping and gifting neighbors, with an occasional visit to your own bakery to collect tips and gifts. Whatever floats your boat.

We are all free to cook whatever we like. The originator of this thread was asking which items would provide them with the greatest number of coins or ROI.

Most of the items you decide to cook are the best for the amount of time it takes to cook.
red velvet cake takes the same amount of time as sugar cookies and valentine cookies, but the red velvet cake makes more coins in the same amount of cooking time. Earl Grey Tea takes the same amount of time as Love potion, but pays out more. I don't know how long each item takes to sell, they may be the same and they may be different. Given what I do know, I would cook red velvet cake and not the other two and I would make Earl Grey Tea and not Love Potion, but that may not be your strategy.

    <--snip-->
It's a detail that we all tend to miss when we first start off on our calculations and will actually lead us down on the wrong trek.

I started writing a long reply to this thread about the various considerations needed for the calculations but eventually realized that I would quickly lose most people once they got to the 3rd paragraph. So instead, I put it all down to these three points:

    1. The consumption limit is 45 servings per minute equaling 2,700 per hour and 64,800 per day (it used to be 50 per minute)
    2. The time taken to cook each batch of each dish severely limits the earning capabilities of the more expensive dishes
    3. The limit on the number of appliances we can put down on the floor per our levels, combined with (1) and (2) above, will help determine the best dishes to serve to maximize earnings

I created a spreadsheet in Google Docs a couple of months ago that helps to illustrate the points I listed above. The left-side of the spreadsheet shows the typical information you'd be able to tabulate directly from the game itself. The right-side, which shows "Servings (Top Row) and Takings per day by number of appliances" is an attempt to show the maximum number of servings you'd be able to sell per day based on the number of appliances you had as well as the profit (selling price less cost) you'd potentially be able to make.

For those on iDevices, please note that the link may take you to a spreadsheet for City Story Contracts. If it does, just click on the link at the bottom of the page that says "BS - Treats"

For those of us who experience headaches and giddy spells when we see all these numbers, the key points to note would be:
    1. Make brownies when you are just beginning, lots of it to quickly gain levels
    2. Make Mocha when you hit level 9, lots of it, to maximize earnings
    3. Level out with more 4 coin items as your level and number of appliances owned increases as this would reduce the amount of time you'd need to spend on the game and still allow you to maximize your profits
    4. As your level gets higher and your number of appliances increases, you'd want to introduce more expensive items gradually, so as to increase your average per item earnings and yet reduce the amount of time you spend cooking

I understand that many of us just play this game for the fun of it and gain great satisfaction in just spending quality time decorating the bakery so I do apologize to you for complicating things with these calculations, but then everyone being made up differently and all, I hope there are a few out there who will find these figures useful.
