Cannot connect to google play

I recently did an update for frozen frenzy mania and after installing it I had to resign i to my facebook for the game which worked fine but no matter what I do I cannot get the game to sign into google play thru the game. If I pull up my google play games app it shows me signed in, but it wont sign me in thru the game. Is this affecting my game saving and playing? What can I do?

Frozen Frenzy Mania doesn't use Google Play sign in. Your game progress is automatically saved to the Storm 8 servers when you play online.
If you need to recover your game progress in the future, you can use your Storm8 ID/password.
