Okay, so when I checked my inventory, the chestnut info card said max is 99. I assume this is a bug that will be fixed soon.
goal 4 of 5 in chapter 1 is forge a frost sword thats what im on so dont remember the others
think the first was collect 3 hot shards
the second was brew a warming potion
3rd was collect the shards for sword
4th forge sword
will let you know in 2 hours the next step thats how long the sword will take

Cool... obtain @least 8-10 chestnuts a day for 13 days is enough for one reindeer! Definitely do-able since farmhouse collection time is only 10mins. Looks like everyone will get a pretty reindeer (or multiples) this event! Yay! Super excited!
Sometimes the polar bears only drop 1 chestnut., so far options are 1, 2, or 5 chestnuts, usually 2

Collect frost shards need two found in ponds to complete goal.
Forge frost sword takes 4 frost shards and 20 iron in workshop. Takes 2 hrs.

5. Journey to the frozen forest
1 warming potion 1 frost sword and 1 simple feast it's a 2 hour adventure
