    IVY & THE PURPLE COW

    [at the Magic Garden]
    IVY: ...
Ruler: What's wrong Ivy? You look glum.
IVY: I came out here to find some Magic Fruit.
Ruler: But you've always loved exploring the Garden!
IVY: That's not why I'm upset. It's that cow...
    ... ...
    Stalker Cow: ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
IVY: See? It's been eyeballing me since I got here. Plotting and planning.
Ruler: Ivy, it's just a cow.
IVY: Nuh-uh! I have a sixth sense about these things. It's up to no good.
Ruler: Ooooooooooooooo-kay... let's just change the subject.
Why do you need Magic Fruit?
IVY: I think it might be the key to unlocking the secret of the Glimmer Wood.
The plants in this garden are filled with magic. I'm talking *soaked* in it.
We humans just don't know how to draw it out!
    Ruler: So who does?
    IVY: Faeries!

(ivy>You may not have noticed the faeries, but I have.
Always darting around and hiding at the edge of my vision!
We just have to grab one up and watch how it gather magic from the fruit!)
Faerie Magic *capture a Faerie & 20 magic fruit that only grows in the Magic Garden*
ivy>Alright! Let/s head over to the Potion Shop!)

Ruler: So what are you going to do, exactly? Make a Magic Fruit salad?
IVY: I'm going to release the faerie near the Magic Fruit, and see what it does.
If I can watch it absorb the magic, I might learn how to brew an extract of pure-
    Wait a minute! ...
    Stalker Cow: ...
IVY: The cow is following us!
Ruler: Oh come on, Ivy. She's just friendly, that's all.
IVY: I don't trust that cow as far as I can throw it.
Ruler: She's probably just hungry, or something.
IVY: Well, I refuse to work under the watch of cow spies!
Ruler: Are you... ...are you being serious right now?

(ivy>I'm super-serious. A magical extract is a very delicate potion!
If that cow interferes, it'll be ruined! Let's distract her with some Cabbages or something.
Paranoia *30 cabbages for the stalker cow* ivy>You win this round, cow.)

IVY: Ok, I think the coast is clear.
Faerie, check. Magic Fruit, check. We just need some purple dye.
    Ruler: Purple dye? Why?
IVY: To color the magic extract. Otherwise we might not be able to see it.
Also, purple is the traditional color of magic things!
Ruler: Well, it seems like you've thought of everything!
Care to guess about the chances of an explosion?
    IVY: Unlikely!
Ruler: ... "Zero chance" would have been more reassuring...
    . ...
    Stalker Cow: ...
IVY: Alright! I've mixed everything together. Uncork that faerie jar!
    Ruler: Faerie away!
IVY: This is it! We're finally going to discover the secret of the Glimmer Wood's magic!
    Nothing can possibly go wrong!

    ===*===

[at the potion shop to pick up the enchanters essence]

Ruler: Whew, this uses a ton of Glimmerdust.

Ruler: Tales! Tales are good. I would LOVE to know more about these tales.
IVY: Okay! Okay. Let me find where I read about this...
The Glimmerdust Trove is concentrated magic, so it hides itself from view.
I can scry for its location, but I need very particular supplies for my scrying bowl.
Ruler: What else is new? Just give me a list, and I'll get what you need.
IVY: Great. I need some Iron, but it has to be fresh.
Ruler: "Fresh"? But...it's from the ground.

IVY: Sorry! I just feel so WEAK! I'm starving.
All of that work! I can't scry on an empty stomach.
Ruler: Don't worry about it, Ivy! I'll make you whatever you want to eat.
IVY: REALLY? Will you make me a Super Yummy Pie? It's my sister's recipe!
Ruler: Sounds delicious! I'd be happy to.
IVY: Oh, I'm so excited! Here's the recipe.
Make sure you have enough Rat Tails!

Ruler: It's okay. How many? ... "Super Yummy Pies" ... do you want, anyway?
IVY: Two! And lots of hot peppers!

(ivy>Oh man, I can taste it now. Hungry Work

    ivy>My favorite! Thank you!)

IVY: Ow! Whoa! I think I overdid it on the peppers.
Quick! I need some milk to numb my mouth!

*give water, wisps, petals* ivy>Okay! Let's get started)

IVY: I see... Oh, I see the Trove. Deep in the Glimmer Woods, shining...
It's hidden from mortal eyes by the fairies. Oh, it's beautiful, but...
Ruler: But what? How do I get it?

    The Tablet of Tabernum

    [at Old Thomas' House]

    Ruler: How's the telescope, Thomas?
OT: It's wonderful, thank you. I'm currently examining the stars. It will take time to determine the Tablet's location.
Can you check back again in a while? Hopefully I'll have good news for you!

    [check back with Old Thomas]
OT: The telescope worked! I see it! There it is!
Ruler: What do you see, Thomas?
OT: The Tablet of Tabernum! It's in the forest, standing to the Northeast! I figured out coordinates by reading the stars.
Then, I focused on that spot. Sure enough, there's a stone monolith there. I can just see it on the horizon.

(OT>We should form an expedition immediately. By examining the Tablet, I'm sure we can find proof to defeat the greedy Baron's claim to the throne!
The Tablet Found *View*- through Thomas' telescope OT>There, in that clearing! The Tablet!

    [at the Tablet]
OT: At last! The Ancient Tablet of Tabernum! As Royal Scholar, I never thought I would see it with my own eyes!
    Ruler: This is exciting!
OT: Oh, yes! The answer to our problems stands before us! The secrets of the Tablet will lead us into a new age of enlightenment!
    Ruler: Yay!
    OT: Discovery, here we come!
Ruler: Woohoo! I can't stand the suspense. Go ahead and read it!
    OT: Right-o! ... ...
    Ruler: ... ... ... What's the hold up?
    OT: Umm... well, you see...
Ruler: ... Don't tell me you can't read it.
OT: It seems to be written in a long-lost ancient language.
    Ruler: Are you kidding me?
OT: I'm afraid not. We will need to study and translate the language.
Ruler: I'll give you this, Thomas. Life is never boring with you around.
    OT: Thanks!

(OT>With some magical help, I'm sure I can decipher the ancient runes on the tablet.
A Translator's Tome is the key* the magic in it will do much of the work Still, constructing one will not be easy.
A Translator's Tome *working on crafting the Tome first*
    OT>Alright, let's begin the translation!)

Ruler: You say this Translator's Tome will be difficult to make?
OT: I'm afraid so. We will need Magic Ink and fresh pages to write upon. Not to mention a new cover and bindings.
It may be possible to make Magic Ink using the Potion Shop!
As for the pages, we can make parchment by pressing and drying wood fibres. I've always wanted to try that!
Ruler: Oh. Well, uh... I guess we had better get started.
    OT: Tally-ho!
Ruler: ... I wonder if he made this up just as an excuse to use the Workshop?

(OT>Make Fine Parchment at the Workshop, and Magic Ink at the Potion Shop. It may take some work, but don't worry.
We'll have the Tome complete before you know it! Magic Ink & Pages OT>Parchment, inks... very good.)

OT: Now that we have the ink and parchment, I must compile the tome.
I'll write ten incantations in all - one fore each of the ancient Tabernum ciphers. After that, we can assemble the finished book.
    Ruler: What is "Tabernum", anyway?
OT: The Tabernum were advisors. Many centuries ago, the land was torn by war.
They decreed that all kingdoms would unite under one wise ruler... and the position would be hereditary, so long as the heir was shown the right way.
Ruler: Hmm... But now the royal heir is missing.
OT: Exactly. Nobody knows what to do, and the Baron is taking advantage. But if we knew the original intentions of the Tabernum...
Ruler: Right. We'd better hurry up and get that Tablet translated.

(OT>Agreed. I'll do inscribe the incantations at the Workshop. Each page should take about four hours, give or take.
Lost in Translation OT>Ten ciphers complete! We're nearly done.)

OT: All that remains is to put the Translator's Tome together. Once that's finished, join me next to the Tablet. We'll let the spells do their work.

(OT>Combine the ten Magic Pages with a Leather Cover and Iron Bindings to create the Translator's Tome.
Making the Tome OT>The Tome is complete. Let's go to the Tablet.)

[Unlock the secrets of the Tablet! ]
OT: The tome is working! I can understand the runes!
    Ruler: What do they say?
OT: Look at the inscription here:

ON THE BROW OF A SOVERIGN
    UNTOUCHED BY WHAT AMBITION BRINGS
    IS PERCHED BENEVOLENCE
    THE ONE TRUE CROWN
AND ONE TRUE MEASURE OF QUEEN AND KING

Ruler: Does that mean what I think it means?
OT: It must. The true duty of a ruler is to the people!
It seems you knew that from the start, my young friend.
Ruler: I think a lot more people know it than the Baron realizes.
Now, we just have to give them a voice.

    =====*****=====

Ruler: Thomas, look at this. A shard of crystal has fallen from the Tablet!
There are more runes on it. I wonder what they mean?

OT: Interesting! It seems the Tabernum still have more to teach us!

(It may have other secret effects.)

    The Barracks

    ===*===
    Royal Proclamation!
    Barracks
    Double the Adventures,
    Double the Treasures
    Purchase the Barracks located
In the Market to go on extra
    Adventures!
    ===*===

IVY: What's wrong? You look like you haven't slept in days.
Ruler: The Castle has gotten really noisy... and crowded.
The Knights are either training for an Adventure, or drinking root beer all night.
OT: That's not good. You can't rule a Kingdom without a good amount of rest.
As your Royal Council, I suggest we build a Barracks!
Ruler: Good idea! Then they'll have their own home in the Kingdom!

(OT>With the Barracks we can send our Knights on two Adventures at once!
    The Barracks *place the barracks*

    OT: You look well rested!
Ruler: Sure do! It's gotten much quieter around the Castle.
What have they been up to anyways?
OT: The Knights Guard have been training new Knights.
And the new Knights are ready to test their s****s!
Ruler: They sure have been keeping busy.

    (ivy>It's time for an Adventure.
I guess there's no better way to prove yourself than a trip through the creepy Ancient Vaults!
Double the Adventures! *prove yourself* ivy>Bring me back something nice!)

Ruler: Whoa, when did the Barracks get so crowded?
IVY: Well, duh. They've been recruiting!
Ruler: Let's make them a meal as a big welcome!
OT: Of course! Nothing says welcome like a hearty meal!

(OT>With full bellies the Knights can better train for Adventures.
Knight Munchies *craft hearty stew* OT>Now they can train all Knight!)

OT: Great show of leadership! The Knights are very happy!
IVY: If they aren't, I've got jussst the potion for them.
Ruler: Thanks, but no thanks, Ivy.
Let's celebrate our new Barracks with an Adventure!
OT: Rather, let's pre-emptively secure our Kingdom from the mean Roaming Bandits!

(OT>Now we can send two groups of Knights out on Adventures! Our Kingdom will be extra safe now.
Knight's Watch *hunt roaming bandits* OT>We're an efficient Kingdom!)

OT: Now that you have double the Knights, be sure to care for all of them!
Ruler: Right, because without food they can't train to their full potential.
OT: Precisely! And our Knights are an artistic lot too. We should help them decorate!
Ruler: I guess looking menacing is a form of art.

(ivy>I say we hang some Skunkupine heads in their main hall.
Menacing Art *craft banners* ivy>Why can't I have Skunkupine art?)

Ruler: Whoa, look at our Knights!
OT: Yes indeed! We have many more Knights than before.
And they're ready to protect our Kingdom!
Ruler: Good timing too, the Baron can't be trusted...
OT: I think his Royal Army still out numbers us though...
Ruler: That's ok. It's the quality, not quantity!
Let's have them train at the Dark Caves.

(OT>Ready for anything, as they say. I think training in the dark will strengthen their senses! Like a Bat!
Dark Knight *adventure to the dark caves - beware of glimmer bats!*
OT>Some of them think they're a Dark Knight!)

OT: The Knights require assistance for the ultimate test!
Ruler: Have they figured out what the next test of strength will be?
OT: Not at all. They request the Ruler to think of an endurance test.
Ruler: Alright. I'll think of something.
OT: In the meantime, they request that we allocate resources to improve the Barracks.

(OT>Meet me at the dear Library and we can start planning the next steps!
I'm more excited than the time I watched a chess match!
Drawing a Blank *yep, he's there! - at the library*

Ruler: What's a good endurance test for our Knights?
OT: Reading the Scrolls of Tabernum!
Ruler: I think our Knights will whither away before they read the first sentence...
    OT: Oh...
Ruler: I know! They can test their strength by Traversing the Desert Sands!
OT: Ah! Your Glimmerbulb sure is quick! That will be a sure-fire way to test their endurance.

(ivy>Yuck. I wouldn't last long under the desert sun in heavy armor. Let's make sure they pack enough water!
Sandy Metal Boots *traverse the desert sands* ivy>Yikes! You're all burned!)

    KITCHEN

Ivy: Hey, I hear you're sending some knights to the ancient vault.
Without food, they'll starve to death along the way. But I can help!
It seems to me that cooking isn't much different from potion-making:
You just throw a bunch of stuff together, and it sometimes explodes!
Come on, we'll stir up some bubbling stew using my cauldron!
Ruler: Umm... weren't you stirring some Rat Tails in there a while ago?
Maaaaaybe we should have a Kitchen, separate from the Potion Shop.
IVY: Oh, alright. But I'll have you know, some people consider Rat Tail Stew a delicacy.

(ivy>I guess I can go along with this Kitchen idea. Let's try a basic recipe first.
Flour is made from wheat, and is used in a lot of things.
The Kitchen *build a kitchen, mix a batch of flour*
ivy>See... Easy! We totally could have done that in my cauldron.)
(note: The Kitchen replaced - Ivy The Cook?)

    Alright, We're flawless so far!
Ruler: To be fair, I think it's pretty hard to screw up flour?
IVY: Trust me, it's possible to screw up anything!
Ruler: Let's try making some actual food. That's the fun part, right?
IVY: Right! One Rat Tail Stew, coming up!
    Ruler: Ivy...
    IVY: Alright, alright.

(ivy>Let's put the Flour to use and make some Bread.
And how about some Grits, too? All that takes is Corn and Water!
Follow The Recipe *make bread & grits*
ivy>I'm going to be honest- I ate some. I hope the knights don't mind.)

    IVY: Yeah, yeah.
(ivy>Apple pie is the best. Eating this is going to be even more fun than baking it.)
(Skunkless) Apple Pies *bake 2 pies* ivy>Smells amazing!)

IVY: Hey there! Ready for another cooking lesson from your pal Ivy?
    Ruler: Umm... well...
IVY: Great! Our knights can't fight on an empty stomach.
If they're gonna bash those bandits, they need lots of carbs!
    ?no idea
IVY: No idea! Let's find out together!
I think Breaded Fish, Hearty Stew, and Skunk-kabobs would make a great feast!
Ruler: Umm... I don't know about that last one.

(ivy>Alright, we'll work on the first two.We can add Roast Chicken and Carrots to Water for the stew.
Then we'll roll some Fish in Bread crumbs!
Hearty Meals ivy>So, about those Skunk-kabobs?)

IVY: Great job with the cooking so far! What's the verdict on the Skunk-kabobs?
Ruler: I think our knights would prefer something less... stinky.
IVY: But the musk is part of the flavor!
Ruler: Look, how about some noodles instead? We'll make pasta.
    IVY: Alright. What's a "noodle"?
Ruler: I'll walk you through it.

(ivy>Alright, fearless leader. Let's see the cooking magic!
First Noodles, then on to the final product: Pasta!
    A Non-Skunk Option *make noodles & pasta*
ivy>Hey, this stuff isn't half bad!)

IVY: Alright, all that's left is to combine our dishes into a Hearty Feast!
Ruler: I had a lot of fun cooking with you.
IVY: Same here! And look, I included some surprise treats for the knights!
    Ruler: Don't tell me.
    IVY: SKUNK-KABOBS!
Ruler: ... (I hope our knights make it to the morning.)

(ivy>Ok, let's prepare the feast and bring it to the knights.)
The Hearty Feast *perfect for a fighting knight*
ivy>The feast is ready! Bandits, your days are numbered!)

Ruler: These oranges are nice and ripe.
Ivy, do you know any recipes that use oranges?
IVY: Orange juice? Let's squeeze the heck out of 'em!
Ruler: Hmm. Maybe something a little more... advanced?
    IVY: But probably less fun.

(ivy>How about an Orange Cobbler? Maybe with a thin crust, dusted with sugar.
I'm making myself hungry just describing it.
Ambitious Oranges *bake 2 orange cobbler*
ivy>Do me a favor and stop me before I eat too much.)

Ruler: Nothing like the scent of fresh lemons. Maybe we could make lemonade?
OT: Oh, some cool lemonade would be splendid! This robe gets hot on a warm day.
Ruler: Thomas! Don't you have a lighter robe?
OT: No! But on days like this, I try to keep cool by wearing nothing underneath this one!
Ruler: That was more information than I needed.

(OT>Oh! My mistake. But there will still be lemonade, yes?
Ice Cold Lemonade *make 2 pitchers of lemonade- 1 for OT to cool him off! *
    OT>Refreshing! I'm feeling cooler already)

FEED THE BARON - not a goal
The baron: I must say, you seem to be quite good at finding my favorite foods.
Delicious spiced truffles! Choice, succulent cuts of meat! Oh, it's like heaven!
Ruler: Is there a point to this?
The baron: Now, now. Can't we be friends and speak to each other nicely?
Ruler: Are you willing to change your ways and be forgiving, generous, and honest?
    The baron: Well... no...
    Ruler: Then no.
The baron: As you wish, my young pro tege. We needn't interact at all.
When you have Truffles and Prime Cuts to trade, prepare them at the Kitchen.
I've provided you with a new recipe!
FEED THE BARON- not a goal

IVY: Oh, Hot Peppers! I've always been fascinated with these.
Do you think you could harvest some for me to experiment with at the Potion Shop?
Twenty or thirty should do. Maybe thirty, just in case some are lost in an...accident.
Ruler: Hmm. Care to share what you're planning?
    IVY: It's a surprise!
    Ruler: ... I sure hope it's a *good* surprise...

(ivy>Just harvest up a whole bunch of Hot Peppers and hand'em over.
I've got some secret plans. I'll tell you if they pan out.
Hot Peppers For Ivy *give 30 peppers* ivy>Alright. Now, my Hot Pepper research begins!)

IVY: I've found it! The final piece of the puzzle!
My Hot Sauce didn't have quite enough "oomph" ...but I know what it's lacking.
Ruler: Please tell me it's something edible.
    IVY: Yep! Rat Tails!
Ruler: I think we have different standards of "edible".

(ivy>Round me up some Rat Tails and I'll give you the finished recipe!
Ivy's Hot Sauce *give 30 rat tails*
Ivy>The recipe, as promised. The tail gives it extra kick!)

IVY: Orange Cobbler is good and all, but I really wanted to do some squeezing!
Why don't we make breakfast for everyone?
Ruler: Sure! I bet our knights will perform better if they eat properly in the mornings.
IVY: Great! We'll make a mountain of bacon and eggs for them to eat through!
Soon, we'll be known for having the chubbiest knights in the land!
(ivy>We can't skimp on breakfast. It's the most important meal of the day! We'll serve it buffet style at the Castle.
Balanced Breakfast * cook breakfast buffet* -bacon, eggs, and orange juice! ivy>Oof! I had too much bacon?)

Ivy: We've gotten pretty good at this, wouldn't you say? Soon, this kingdom might even get a reputation for having great food!
Ruler: I find it to be a nice break from being in charge. And it's fun to have a cooking partner.
You know, there are always people in other kingdoms who are short of food.
IVY: Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
    Ruler: COOKING CARAVAN!
(ivy> Add to the caravan by tapping the "Load" button on each entry. I hope you're ready for some serious cooking!
Cooking Caravan *pies, cobbler, lemonade, buffets, breaded fish* caravan

IVY: Hey hey! I've got some news.
    Ruler: What is it, Ivy?
IVY: I've discovered a way to grow Cocoa plants in the Glimmerwood!

(ivy>The soil here is filled with magic. I had to tweak the seeds a bit to get them to sprout.
It took a while, but I figured it out. I bet Cocoa Beans will be useful for all sorts of things!
Cuckoo For Cocoa Crops *try out new crop* ivy>That's a big ol' haul of Cocoa Beans!)

IVY: With these Cocoa Beans, we can finally make Chocolate!
Ruler: I could have sworn we could make chocolate before?
IVY: Do you want to depend on pink cows for the rest of your life?
    Ruler: Point taken.

(ivy>The recipe for making chocolate is pretty simple. Just use up those Cocoa Beans we harvested!
Natural Chocolate *make chocolate* ivy>Urgh...I ate too much?)

IVY: Now it's time for Ivy's good ol' fashioned chocolate cake recipe!
Ruler: On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being "no skunk" and 10 being "all skunk"...
... how much skunk does this recipe have in it?

IVY: Sheesh! You all act like I put skunk in everything!
    Ruler: ...
IVY: Alright, alright. We'll do the non-skunk version.

(ivy>Flour, chocolate, sugar...come help me stir this, then we'll fire it into the oven!
You can handle the icing while I make us a treat to go with it.
    Bake Me A Cake * make 2 cakes & 2 ice creams*

Marketplace Requests (OPTIONAL AND TIMED) - Goals
    Goal Pre-requisites & Notes:
    * From here on, you will come across timed goals within the main story. Timed goals are a bit more challenging and unless you are in your game quite a bit, may not be achievable. Please don't worry about this! There will always be a longer way around the goal. The exception to this are goals that lead to the optional purchase of an item that costs gems. Even then, purchasing the item is optional and you can purchase it later if you want to when you have either bought or saved enough gems.
    * Once you collect from the marketplace for the first time it will trigger timed 24 hour goals. They are optional! Let them expire if you don't want to do them. Be warned.... if you give any resources to the goal and do not finish, you lose your items. Be prepared! If you do not think you can get the required amounts, let the goal expire.
    * Once you hit the Give button, the goals change to a percentage sign, so it can be difficult to work out how many you items you still need to give.
    * You can pre-plan these goals if you don't collect from your marketplace and get 99 of the resource ready so you only need the additional amounts once the goal is triggered.

    MARKET REQUEST

OT: It seems people love the Market! It's very busy.
Ruler: Almost *too* busy. The merchants are nearly out of Eggs!
I think if we contribute some of our own supplies, we can prevent shortages.

OT: Oh, a fine idea. I'll ask the merchants what's needed! I'm quite good at organizing.
Ruler: Are you sure you're good at organizing? Your scrolls are uh... all over the place.
    OT: I haven't lost a scroll yet! ... That I know of.
Ruler: In any case, let's do something about the Egg shortage.

(Merchants in your kingdom want Eggs. Fill the request by hitting the "Give" button below, but don't take too long!
Demand can change. Market Request: Eggs! *Don't delay! 48hours! The clock is ticking*

Ruler: Hmm, there's a commotion in the Market.
Demand for Milk is extra high right now. (48hr tick tock)

Ruler: It seems there's a shortage of Mushrooms at the Market?
Don't delay! The clock is ticking! (48hr tick tock)

Ruler: Now the merchants are saying they don't have enough Coal...
    48hrs. Don't delay! (48hr tick tock)

Ruler: Hmm...from the sounds of things, the Market doesn't have
enough Sugar Cane to sell. (48hr tick tock)

Ruler: Looks like there's a shortage of Iron Ore at the Market. (48hr tick tock)

Ruler: Hmm, there's hardly any Roast Chicken at the Market (48hr tick tock)

Ruler: Looks like flower sellers at the Market are low on White Petals (48hr tick tock)

Ruler: The Market is low on Hides. I think I have some extra... (48hr tick tock)

Ruler: The Market smells better than usual. It must be low on Fish. (48hr tick tock)

    THE BARON & Sir Pigglesworth

The Baron: Well, well! That's a Prime Cut of meat you've got there!
Ruler: Didn't you say you were leaving?
The baron: Leave? How can I stay away for long when there's delicious meat to be had?
Why, that's a meal fit for a king! Perhaps a trade can be arranged.
I have items you need, and you have delicious cutlets that I need!
Ruler: I don't suppose any of this meat will go to the hungry people of your kingdom, huh!
The Baron: What? Oh, heavens no

(baron>If you're that concerned, use the items I'll trade you to help your people however you like!
Prime Cuts *give 6 prime cuts*

The Baron: Hold on there, my young friend. I've come to ask something of you!

The Baron: Not at all! It's about my pet pig, Sir Pigglesworth.
Ruler: *You* have a pet pig?
The Baron: Sir Pigglesworth was specially bred as an item-finding pig. He *loves* rooting for items.
But, he doesn't know when to stop! He roots everywhere! Even in my gardens!
He digs up my floorboards, pulls the stuffing out of seat cushions, rumples the rugs! He's a menace to society!
Ruler: Why don't you let me take him? We could use an item-rooting pig around here.
The Baron: For *free*? After all I paid for him? Not a chance! No, I'm here to propose a deal!
Ruler: What sort of deal? I don't trust you as far as I can throw you.
The Baron: I desire items for my collection of riches. A Golden Egg, Golden Apple, and Gold Nugget.
Find them for me, and Sir Pigglesworth is yours. What do you think?
Ruler: I'll try. For Sir Pigglesworth's sake.

(baron>These golden artifacts are very rare and hard to find. Let's see how resourceful you are!

baron> As promised- Sir Pigglesworth. Item-rooter extraordinaire!)

The Baron: Hello again! I'm holding a barbecue at my palace that I'm afraid you're not invited to.
I wonder, could you produce some more of those Prime Cuts of meat?
Ruler: Give me one good reason why I should.
The Baron: I'll give you 1,500 golden, shining reasons why! Not to mention a few items as well!

(baron>Come on, it's a fine deal, isn't it? You can use that money to...ugh... "help the poor" ... if you like.
Who wouldn't trade Prime Cuts for peace of mind?
High Steaks *give 30 prime cuts*

    Ruler: So every day you're...
The Baron: Truffling, yes. Every day I'm truffling.
If you could gather more of these lovely morsels, I'd reward you most handsomely!
Ruler: If I give you Truffles, will you go away? Because that'd be a great reward.

Necessary Truffness * give 30 truffles - he'll reward you with glue*
baron>Here. Patch a few of the cracks in that "castle" of yours.)

    The baron: Well...no...
    Ruler: Then no.
The baron: As you wish, my young protege. We needn't interact at all.
When you have Truffles and Prime Cuts to trade, prepare them at the Kitchen.
I've provided you with a new recipe!

BB: Thank you for your aid, o stranger! I am Thurston, a knight!
Ruler: Nice to meet you, Thurston. How did you come to be lost in the Glimmer Wood?
    And uh...
How did you come to be wearing only your boxer shorts?
Thurston: I came to this wood on a quest *most* sacred: to defeat the foul Troll King!
Alas, I became lost, and my splendid armor was stolen by Glimmer Trolls!
Oh, woe is me! A knight without armor is no knight at all! Oh, the shame!
Ruler: Don't despair just yet. Maybe I can help you find your armor!
Thurston: Oh, could you? N-nothing is more important! It says so in the Knights C-code!
But tell me, stranger, have you f-faced Glimmer Trolls before?
Ruler: Hmm...actually, I've never even seen one.
Thurston: Then heed my warning! Normal weapons have no effect. You will need a Magic Forge.

(thurston>W-without a Magic Forge to lend your blade an edge,
you'll be helpless against the Glimmer Trolls! Construct one, then return to me.
    3. Trouble with Trolls *build Magic Forge, tell Thurston*
(thurston>You have a Magic Forge? Very well then.)

Thurston: Now, you must forge a blade. And not just any blade- an enchanted sword!
Ruler: Uh...does it really say that?

(thurston>To make an Enchanted Blade, reinforce a normal sword with silver.
Then, you will need to apply a magical essence, if such a thing can be found.
    4. The Enchanted Blade *forge blade-you'll need it to battle Glimmer Trolls*
    thurston>Is the blade ready?

Ruler: This blade feels light as a feather? The magic makes a big difference.
Thurston: Aye, and you seem c-c-capable with it!
That is good, for Rule 651 of the Knight's Code states:
"Swing thee no sword if thou art terrible at sword-swinging."
Ruler: Well, uh...good. I wouldn't want to disappoint the Knight's Code... I guess?
Thurston: You are now ready to beat up some Glimmer Trolls.
And beat them up you must! Beat them up, and retrieve my pants!
    Ruler: Your pants?
Thurston: Aye! My armoured pants! For the Knight's Code states...
Ruler: Let me guess. It's something about not losing your pants, right?
Thurston: Amazing! *You* know the Knight's Code? What lord do you serve, fellow Knight?
Ruler: Never mind. Let's just find those pants.

(thurston>Glimmer Trolls hide very well, unless you know exactly where to look.
They enjoy human riches and food. Try looking in places where people visit or dwell.
    5. Thurston's Pants *find & beat up glimmer trolls until you find Thurston's pants*

Ruler: Aha! This must be one of the Glimmer Trolls that Thurston talked about!
I wonder if he's the Pants thief? There's only one way to find out!

    (thurston>My pants! You've found them!)

Thurston: Thank thee, brave Knight, for recovering my leggings from those foul Glimmer Trolls!
Ruler: Thurston, I was just kidding about being a-
Thurston: Now, you must recover my helmet.
For Rule 190 of the Knight's Code says: "Thou shalt not be without chrome to protect thy dome."
Ruler: ...Good advice. So the Glimmer Trolls stole your helmet, too?
Thurston: Aye! They threw it into a pond, and it sank to the bottom.
Ruler: The bottom of a pond? How am I supposed to get it out? Fish for it?

Thurston: Yes! But it's heavy. It would break a normal fishing hook in a second.
Ruler: Hmm. I think I have an idea.

(thurston>My helmet weights quite a lot. You won't be able to fish it out with a normal hook,
but perhaps you can think up a solution to that problem, brave Knight!
    6. Hooked *forge dense fishing hook* thurston>A heavy-duty hook? It might work..

Ruler: Alright! This fish hook won't bend, no matter how heavy your helmet is.
Thurston: Then good luck to you, brave fisher-knight! May your struggle be valiant!
Ruler: I'm not sure fishing counts as "valiant".
Thurston: Nay! 'Tis a classic battle of fishing pole versus helmet!
Songs will be sung of this day!
    Ruler: If you say so!

(thurston>I'm not sure which pond those trolls threw my helmet into,
but I heard the splash! It could be a Pond or a Well.
Just keep casting your line until it hooks something heavy!
    7. Thurston's Helmet *fish out helmet*
(thurston>Zounds, my helmet is covered with seaweed!)

Thurston: My helmet smells a bit fishy but is otherwise in fair condition.
All that remains missing is my fine breastplate.
Ruler: Just point me in the right direction!
Thurston: Alas, no amount of pointing will do! For before my very eyes, the trolls destroyed it!
Ruler: Destroyed it? Then what can be done?
    Thurston: It must be reforged!
Ruler: That seems...difficult. Your armor is pretty fancy.
Thurston: I have faith in your s****s, brave Knight! You only need Iron and Silver!

(thurston>I have no doubt that you can forge a Breastplate to match my Leggings and Helmet.
You have already proven your s****s twice!
    8. Thurston's Breastplate *forge breastplate-it's the last piece of armor he needs!*
(thurston>My Breastplate! Hand me my armor, quickly!)

Thurston: Help me get buckled in! I've been without my armor for too long!

(thurston>Rule 219 of the Knight's Codes states: "To lose thine fancy armor is to lose thine honor!"
This will release me from my burden of shame!
    9. Thurston Gets Dressed *give-helmet, breastplate, leggings*
(thurston>A thousand thanks! Watch now, as I don my armor!)

Thurston: Huzzah! Oh, the security of a stout piece of armor.
No longer shall I feel the chill wind of this wood, blowing against my backside!
Ruler: Feeling better? You've stopped shivering.
Thurston: I feel whole again. You've done me a great service, brave Knight.
Ruler: I'm not actually a knight. But I *am* the ruler of this kingdom!
Thurston: Oh! Forgive my impertinence! I should not have presumed!
Ruler: Don't worry about it. What do you plan to do now that your armor is returned?
Thurston: I am a knight with no lord to serve. I thought I could defeat the Troll King, but I failed.
Ruler: You haven't failed, Thurston. Your quest isn't over!

Ruler: If there's a Troll King here, we'll find him and give ham a butt-kicking he'll not soon forget!
Thurston: Huzzah! Then I shall pledge to your service, until our foe is defeated!
I, Sir Thurston, shall defend you from all dangers, my liege!
Ruler: Welcome. But you don't have to call me "my liege".
Thurston: But I do! Rule 782 of the Knight's Code-
Ruler: Alright, alright. I get it.

    THURSTON THE KNIGHT Part 2

Thurston: Aha! You dare threaten my liege, you foul beast?
Ruler: Thurston, it's just a Skunkupine. I've been beating those things up for weeks.
Thurston: No need to put on a brave face, my sovereign! This most dangerous-
Ruler: It weighs less than a housecat.
Thurston: ...but...but... the Knight's Code states: "Protect thine liege from all perils!"
Ruler: It's ok, I'm good. Why don't you cheer me on?
Thurston: If that is what you wish, then very well!
Gadzooks and zounds! Thou are as strong as ten knights! To victory!
    Ruler: Not bad!

(thurston>I shall cheer thee on, o brave champion!
This land shall be clear of Skunkupines, Fangbeasts and Glimmer Trolls!
    10. Defeating Peril *defeat 10 each* (thurston>Victory is ours!)

Thurston: Bravo! I've never seen fighting such as that!
Why, you may even be a match for the Troll King himself!
Ruler: You've mentioned the Troll King a few times. Who is he?
Thurston: A foul creature who controls all the mischief in this wood.
'Tis my sacred quest and duty to see him defeated!
That is, if you want to. I know thou art busy.
Ruler: Thurston, it's ok. I'll help you. Why are you so doubtful?
Thurston: I am just not used to serving a liege who is so...agreeable...
Can I really trust thee? Am I to be fooled again?
Ruler: ! Thurston! Where did he run off to?

(thurston seems bothered by something, and is hesitant to talk. Maybe Old Thomas can give some advice
    11. A Lieges Trust *ask OT- probably at his house* OT>Oh, hello there! I was just organizing my scrolls.)

Ruler: Old Thomas, have you talked to Thurston at all?
OT: Oh, that great brawny fellow in armor? No, I haven't. He seems distracted.
    Ruler: Something is upsetting him.
OT: Perhaps so. I overheard him mutter that he was going to look for a Tavern. Do we have one of those?
Ruler: Hmm a Tavern, eh? Maybe he'll be in more of a talking mood there.

(OT>Well then, off you go to have a nice, friendly chat!
Though I suppose if we don't have a Tavern, you will have to build one first.
    12. Drowning Sorrows *visit tavern, talk to Thurston* (Thurston> ...)

    Thurston: ...
Ruler: Thurston, there you are. I've been looking all over.
Thurston: No need. I only wish to drown my sorrows in delicious, delicious root beer.
Ruler: Come on, you can talk to me. Why did you get so sad all of a sudden?
Thurston: Your promise to help me- I've heard such promises before.
    Ruler: From who?
Thurston: My previous liege. He made many promises, and broke them all.
At first, I obeyed without question. He *promised* it was for the greater good.
But when he asked me to take part in a kidnapping, I finally refused.
He'd been duping me into doing his dirty work for years. His name was-
    Ruler: Don't tell me...
    Thurston: ...Baron Garland Pfeffernot.
Ruler: Oh, I knew it! That lousy no-good bum!
Ruler: Thurston, it takes courage to walk away from a bad situation like that.
Don't worry about promises. Just judge my actions, then decide. Is that fair?
Thurston: Oh. That sounds...alright! I feel much better now. Thank thee for talking.
Though, I'm afraid I was quite depressed and ordered too much food...

(thurston>Gadzooks! I seem to be short of coin for this food bill.
Perhaps if you pay it, you could take the food in exchange? A thousand pardons, my liege!
    13. A Knights Past (thurston>Here's the leftover food.)

Ruler: Hey Thurston. Where are you off to in such a hurry?
Thurston: I am going to inspect the battlements, as a dutiful knight should.
Ruler: Battlements? I don't think we have those.
Thurston: Sure you do! Every ruler has battlements! For Rule 87 Of The Knight's Code states:
"Thy walls shall be high, to shoot down upon the enemy like "pew pew pew"!
Ruler: The Knight's Code has a "pew pew pew" noise written into it?
Thurston: Aye! Now, show me to your barricades! And I must test the depth of the moat!
Ruler: Umm...we're a little low on moats and barricades.
Thurston: What? But the Troll King could attack at any moment! We must prepare!

(thurston>A powerful siege crossbow will allow us to outrange any assault!
And of course, we'll need dozens of stout guards to man the walls! Extra stout!
    14. Royal Defender * rally 60 stout knights & construct a Ballista*
(thurston>Our defenses shall never be broken!)

    [after collecting from a Tavern]
Thurston: So many fine memories in this hallowed place.
Ruler: Oh, Thurston! What are you doing here?
Thurston: Just paying a proper Knight's tribute to a fine saloon.
Rule 156 of the Knights Code: "Thine parched throat shall be soothed by only the rootiest of root beers!"
Ruler: There's a Knights Code rule about...root Beer?
Thurston: Aye! This the sacred flavor that has fuelled many a questing Knight!
Oh, if only we could improve the capacity of this Tavern's root beer barrels!
Ruler: Thurston, is this your way of asking me to upgrade the Tavern?
Thurston: What! Surely nay, my liege...don't be...ridiculous. *cough*

(thurston>Thought if...the Tavern *were* to be upgraded by some coincidence...
I would, of course, forever thank thee. 15. Thurston's Thirst *upgrade tavern to lv.4*
(thurston>the taverns root beer reserves are now nearly bottomless. Huzzah!)
(Note: Thurston's Thirst was originally part of the 2013 upgrade goals -released at the same time as the 2013 Valentines Edition)

Thurston: Inspiring, is it not? Sixty stout knights and a splendid ballista!
Ruler: Is a *stout* knight better than a normal one, somehow?
Thurston: Twice as good, at least!
Ruler: What do you plan to do with all this stuff?
Thurston: The knights can stand watch at our walls! And as for the ballista...
...I was thinking, mayhap...we could build a fort. And put it on the roof.
And I could...mayhap...live happily in the fort. If thee would have me.
Ruler: Thurston, are you asking to build a house here and live with us?
    Thurston: ... Aye.
Ruler: There's no need to by shy. Permission granted, Sir Knight!
    Thurston: Truly? Huzzah!

(thurston>I'll set to building straight away!
We can mount the crossbow on the parapet, and the fearsome sight of it will ward away all enemies!
    16. Thurston's Fort *build & place Thurston's fort*
(thurston>The Fort is complete! A thousand thanks to thee!)

Thurston: 'Tis time! Time to defeat the foul Troll King!
But we must be careful! He is a fearsome foe!
His leathery skin is impervious to all weapons. His bellow shakes the hills!
    Ruler: He sound tough.
Thurston: Aye! But the Troll King has a weakness. We must forge the legendary sword? Excalibam!
    Ruler: Don't you mean "Excalibur"?
Thurston: Nay! For Rule 3 of the Knight's Code states: "Copy thee not the name of another sword. Find thy own destiny!"
Ruler: Isn't that name still pretty close? It's like two letters different.
Thurston: The point is, we must wield Excalibam to enter the Troll King's lair!
To forge the sword, we will need Mithril. A rare and powerful metal.

(thurston>Mithril is difficult to obtain- but there must be a way. Why not ask Thomas for some advice?
He must know a method. 17. Forge Excalibam *forge Excalibam - you cannot defeat the Troll King without it!*

Ruler: Thomas, I need to find some Mithril. Give me good news!
OT: Mithril? We have a better chance of finding a polka-dot dragon dancing in town square!
Ruler: I don't like the sound of that...
OT: It's a very rare metal. There's none to be found around here except...
Wait! Let me check my maps!
... Ah, here! It's as I thought. The Dark Caves extend partially under this forest.
Back in the era of the Tabernum, those caves were known to contain rare minerals!
Ruler: Really? That sounds like a good solution!

(OT>The Dark Caves are a dangerous place. You will need to send your knights-
and make sure they have some sort of ward against the darkness and cold.
    18. Secrets of Mithril *send knights, acquire Mithril* (OT>Aha! Mithril!)

    (17. Forging Excalibam- thurston>Behold! Excalibam!)

Thurston: With the sacred sword of Excalibam on our side, we cannot fail.
It is time to put our courage to the test, and assault the Troll King's Lair!
Ruler: Do you have any idea where it is?

(thurston>The Troll King's Lair is to the northwest, I'm sure of it. The trolls all seem to come from that direction.
It shouldn't be far. 19. To The Troll Kings Lair *find & expand* (thurston>Look! There he is!)

    Ruler: He looks tough!
Thurston: Aye, this shall be a long and difficult fight! But we will win the day!
    To battle!
Ruler & Thurston together : CHARGE!

(thurston>He's a powerful foe, but don't give up! He will eventually fall!
    20. Defeat the Troll King *banish him from the Glimmer Wood! - takes 99 hits to defeat* (thurston> Sweet victory! )

TROLL KING DEFEATED. BIG RED RUBY & ROYAL POINTS.

    The Jousting Arena - Goals
    Goal Pre-requisites & Notes:
    * The 1st Anniversary Tournament - You need to have Thurston and his Fort to trigger these goals.

You can take as long as you need to defeat the monster. If you start hitting it, run out of energy and exit the game, you will be able to continue where you left off when you come back into the game. Jousting Arena

Celebrating the One Year Anniversary of the Kingdom
Jousting Arena (cool thing about this asset is that it'll change visually when you update it)
& Aggwynn joined the TeamLava Forum discussions!

    [Old Thomas talks to Ruler]

OT: Hello! Would you be interested in helping me with something?
Ruler: Of course! What do you need?
OT: In honor of our Kingdom's One Year Anniversary, I think we should do something!
Ruler: Wow, one full year has gone by! What did you have in mind?
OT: I would like to sketch you showing off your beautiful sword for our history scroll!
Ruler: I actually just swing it around wildly, but ok, let's do it!

(Ruler>Let's beat up a monster hiding in our crops so Thomas can sketch us!
One Year Anniversary *beat up monster* Ruler>That's how it's done! )

Thurston: Splendid display of swordplay, my liege!
Ruler: Thurston, I'm actually not trained. I call it... focused swinging!
Thurston: This can't be true! Surely you're jousting me!
    Ruler: You mean, joshing you?
Thurston: Speaking of jousting, wouldst thou grant me the permission of throwing a jousting tournament in your honor?
Ruler: Great idea, Thurston! But let's make it a friendly bonding tournament for our Kingdom's One Year Anniversary!

    (Ruler>Let's approve Thurston's great idea!
Just Jousting You! *Request Approved* Ruler>There we go! )

IVY: A Jousting Tournament? Did I hear that right?
    Ruler: You bet!
IVY: I remember attending one back in my last Kingdom.
Ruler: Really? I've never seen one before. What's it like?
IVY: Well, I didn't exactly see it. They kicked me out for having a Skunku-pie in the stand.
Ruler: Yeah... let's make you a hearty feast to enjoy during the tournament instead.

(Ruler>Let's make a hearty feast for all to enjoy while watching the tournament!
Preparing The Heart Ruler>Hooray! Food and drink for all!)

OT: I overheard the Chefs talking as fast as the chop about a Jousting Tournament!
Ruler: What were you doing at the Kitchen? Were you trying to hide snacks in your robe again?
OT: I tried to, but they caught me...
Ruler: Oh Thomas, you know you can't have too many strawberry shortcakes!
But yes, there is a tournament that Thurston is leading the efforts for.
OT: How grand! Even more grand if we follow the building instructions found in scroll J872! Now where is it...

(OT>Scroll J872 should be at my house. Come, come, let's locate this Grand Jousting Arena blueprint.
Rumor Has It *ruler finds scroll* OT>What great eyes you have!)

OT: Maybe I should eat more carrots and less strawberries. Better for the eyes they say!
Ruler: I think so too. And they're just as sweet!
OT: Yes, yes! Not, let's unroll this scroll and start the preparations for this grand Jousting Arena!
I haven't been this excited since we build the Library!
Ruler: Something more interesting than a Library? Now I have to see this blueprint!

(OT> Gather the materials we'll need from various craft masters in our Kingdom! Hurry, there is no time to lose!
Thomas' Grand Blueprint OT>Great job! Now, let's see here...)

    OT: Oh dear...
Ruler: That doesn't sound good. What's wrong?
OT: I don't understand the blueprint as well as I thought.
Ruler: That's ok. I'm sure there are craft masters at the Tavern that can help us.
OT: The Tavern folk are a rough and loud bunch, it's no place for someone like me.
Ruler: Don't worry, Thomas. If we come bearing gifts of things they'll like, I'm sure they'll hear us out!

(Ruler> I don't know much about crafter etiquette but I do know it's always polite to have a gift when asking for a favor!
Tavern Etiquette Ruler>Now everyone is happy!)

OT: How did you negotiate like that? Most wonderful display of rulery-ness!
Ruler: Umm... Is that even a word, Thomas?
    OT: It is now!
Ruler: Ok, I'll take it. Thank you.
OT: I suppose that's all we can do for now. I hope everyone else's preparations are ready too!
Ruler: I hope so as well! I'm excited for my first Jousting Tournament.

(Ruler>Now, the waiting game. Jousting Materials List
*waiting for everyone else to be ready* Ruler>*tick-tock-tick-tock*)

IVY: You wanna know what realllllly gets a crowd going?
    Ruler: What?
    IVY: Sugar!
Ruler: A hyper and happy crowd sounds like a good idea!
IVY: We can use this recipe I have. It'll keep everyone bouncing off the walls for days!
Ruler: I think Ice Cream will do just fine, Ivy.

(Ruler>Let's prepare some Ice Cream for the crowd. A sweet and refreshing dessert!
I Scream For Ice Cream Ruler>We all scream for ice cream!)

IVY: We got a Hearty Feast as our main course and Ice Cream for dessert.
    Ruler: Think it'll be enough?
IVY: Maybe not, but I know a bite of Skunku-pie is super filling!
    Ruler: Ivy!
IVY: Alright, alright. One of these days I'll sneak it past you and you'll say "Yes, Ivy! I would love a slice!"
    Ruler: Not a chance!

(Ruler>Let's check with Thurston and see if he needs anything else.
Skunku-pie Free Event * on way to Thurston's fort* Ruler>I hope he's not overly stressed out!)

    [at Thurston's Fort]
Thurston: My liege! What brings you here?
Ruler: We're here to help you with the tournament preparations!
Thurston: There's no need for you to help!
For rule 42 of The Knight's Code states: "No Ruler shall aid in any heavy duty lifty work!"
Ruler: We already have everything done.
Thurston: Ah! Why! You shouldn't have.
Thank you. Thou art the most graceful ruler I have ever met.

(Ruler>Hand off the food and dessert to Thurston! Jousting Food List
*waiting for everyone else to be ready* Ruler>*tick-tock-tick-tock*

Ruler: Ok, let's go down the list and see what we got.
OT: We have the materials for construction and the blueprint for the grand Jousting Arena ready.
IVY: I got the food ready to go too!
Ruler: Great! Thurston? Shall we get this started?
    Thurston: Aye, my liege!

(Ruler>Preparations are all ready to go! Let's plan our Jousting Arena!
Putting It All Together Thurston>I'll do my best! )

Thurston: Huzzah! Now we can begin the best part! Construction!
Ruler: Hooray! If we all work together we'll get this Jousting Arena built in no time!
Thurston: Indeed, my liege! Rule 43 of The Knight's Code states:
"All brave knights must work day and night until the ruler's request has been fulfilled!"
Ruler: Geez... let's not do that. Attention all! No one is allowed to work "day and night"!
    Thurston: Rah Rah! To That!

(Thurston>Even though the ruler has gratefully exempt me from my knightly code, I won't disappoint!
The Jousting Arena *getting ready for some fun!*

    Thurston: I have a request!
    Ruler: What is it, Thurston?
Thurston: May I joust in your honor?
Ruler: Sure! That would be great!
Thurston: Wow... that was... easy. Usually I'm rejected for these sorts of things.
Ruler: Not here! You're the best knight in all of Glimmerwood!
Thurston: Thank you for the kind words.

(Thurston>I, Sir Thurston get to joust in honor of the Ruler!
I'll need armor that will allow me to move swiftly!
For Glimmerwood! *Armor ready* Thurston>I won't fail you!)

    Ruler: What's wrong Thurston?
    Thurston: ...
    Ruler: ... ?
Thurston: My deepest apologies, my liege. It seems to be I have the case of cold metal feet!
Ruler: You mean, the case of cold feet? Hey, where are you running off to?

(Ruler>I don't think he realized he's not that fast with all that armor on him.
Cold Metal Feet * at the Tavern* Thurston>I'm afraid I may embarrass you. )

Ruler: Thurston! Why did you run off?
Thurston: Deepest apologies, my liege. I can't fulfill the great honor you have given me to fulfill the great honor?
Ruler: I think you had one too many root beers.
Thurston: Nay! For rule 500 and 72 of The Knight's Code states:
"Every Knight may have as ma-many rooty-beers their shiny heart so *burp* desires!"
Ruler: Even that rule sounds like it had one too many root beers.
You'll do fine! If you do your best, that's all that matters to me.

(Ruler>Poor Thurston, let's cheer him up.
Rooty Beers *take away the root beer from Thurston*
    Thurston>Woe is me.)

IVY: Poor Thurston. He needs a chill potion. Or two.
Ruler: Do you have a recipe for that?
IVY: Sure do! You want me to make it?
Ruler: Is it made out of Skunkupines and Trolls?
IVY: You bet! I'll use only the best ingredients if that's what you're worried about.
Ruler: I feel bad, but maybe it'll do him some good. Can you make it while I give him a pep talk?

(ivy>Some of this and that. But don't forget the sugar! We need it to mask the smell!
Chill Out Potion ... rat tails, troll essences, and lots of sugar*
Ruler>Pee-ew! I hope the sugar helps!)

IVY: Alright! Now *I'm* excited for this tournament.
Ruler: Are you sure it has nothing to do with this "Chill Out" potion you're about to make?
IVY: Okay... maybe just a bit. A teensy bit. But really! It's about the tournament.
    Ruler: Uh huh.
IVY: If it weren't for the tournament, I wouldn't be able to make this potion. So... yeah!
Ruler: I guess that logic works... why not!

(Ruler>Let's brew this at Ivy's House since we kinda don't want to contaminate our kitchen!
Souspine Chef Ivy *brewing at Ivy's Hut* ivy>He won't suspect a thing!)

IVY: Wait! You're going to need to dress us as a tough smelly knight.
Ruler: What? What will that do?
IVY: I don't know. Pretend to be this super duper knight and get him to drink the potion!
Ruler: A trick in a trick. Who have I become.

*Clink Clank* This suit of armor smells so bad...

Smelly knight: You thar, brave knight! Why the long helmet?
Thurston: Dear knight, I am sad to inform you that I am no knight.
Smelly knight: RARR! How do you mean, you are wearing armor... are you not?
Thurston: I may as well be naked and booted! The ruler deserves a more fearless knight... like thee!
Smelly knight: Non-sense. Take this here potion. Strength of... uh... 300 Knights!
Now chug this and go! Your... liege... is waiting.
Thurston: Say it isn't so! Surely no such thing exists!
But you look tough... tougher than me. Here goes nothing... 3,2,1, bottoms up!

(Thurston> Tilt head fully back and chug, you say? Aye!
    300 Knights
    Thurston>BLERGHH! WHAT IS THIS? )

IVY: I uh, forgot to tell you. A common side effect is fainting from the smell.
Ruler: Ivy! How can you forget that! THURSTON! ... Oh! He's waking up! THURSTON!
Thurston: I feel... STRONG! And FEARLESS! RAH!
    Ruler: How are you feeling?
Thurston: My liege! Come watch me hustle everyone off their mount!
    IVY: Yay! Yay! Let's go!
Ruler: He chugged a Skunkupine potion, fainted, and now he's off to joust. I guess this potion works.

(ivy>Whoo hoo! Let's go watch him joust in your honor!
The First Match. Thurston> Did you see me?!!)

OT: My! What a splendid display of knightly-ness!
IVY: Great job, Thurston! Do you feel... off anywhere at all?
Ruler: Ivy! There are more side effects?!
    IVY: Shouldn't be!

*Do-Do-Do-Doo!* What a stupendous show of determination!
We're in the process of making it tougher, stay tuned!

(Ruler>It looks like they're making it tougher for the next round.
Let's take a breather while it's being renovated.
Intermission One *look, it's different now that it's renovated!*
    Ruler>Sweet, look at that!)

*Do-Do-Do-Doo!* And we're back! All brave jousters, please report to the arena!
    Ruler: Hooray! You ready, Thurston?
IVY: You sure you're all right?
Thurston: Thank you for your deep concerns, but I assure you I am fine. I feel as sharp as mightily steel!
Ruler: Ok. Let us know if you feel funny.

*Do-Do-Do-Doo!* Spectators, please take your seats! We will begin soon!

(OT>Look at that entrance! Hooray, Thurston!
    The Second Match.
ivy>Whoo hoo! You got em', Thurston!)

Ruler: Congratulations! I saw everything, you were amazing!
Thurston: Thank you. If it weren't for your loud cheering I wouldn't have won!
OT: Your riding style reminds me of the great Sir Knight Wren from the legends in my scrolls!
Thurston: I am unworthy of such kind praises, Sir Thomas!
    IVY: Shhhs there's an announcement!

*Do-Do-Do-Doo!* Once again, Sir Thurston showed us all how it's done!
But, let's not get ahead of ourselves! We got one final match to go! Hang tight!

(ivy>Final round coming up! Are you sure you don't want a bite of this Skunkupie?
Intermission Two *arena's even more robust after renovations! Ruler>Whoa, that looks tough!)

*Do-Do-Do-Doo!* Ladies and Gentlemen of Glimmerwood, are you ready?!
Please return to the Jousting Arena, you won't want to miss this!

    Ruler: Hooray! You ready, Thurston?
IVY: Remember, you're as slick as that Knightly Knight guy Thomas spoke of!
OT: Ah! You mean Sir Knight Wren!
IVY: Yeah, him! Just be him! But with the strength of 300 other knights!

*Do-Do-Do-Doo!* Ladies and Gentlemen of Glimmerwood! Make lots of noise!!

(ivy>Final round! Quick, let's make up a cheer for him!
The Final Match *cheering on Thurston* Ruler>You did it, you did it! )

Ruler: He won! He won! Congratulations, Thurston!

*Do-Do-Do-Doo!* Ladies and Gentlemen of Glimmerwood!
We declare Sir Thurston the CHAMPION of our first Jousting Tournament!

Thurston: I couldn't have done this without the blessings of the great ruler!
    IVY: D'aww... isn't that adorable.

*Do-Do-Do-Doo!* And this concludes our One Year Anniversary celebration!
Thank you all for your support!

Thurston: Me! A champion! This is unreal, thank you for believing in me!
OT: For the following week, everyone will call you Champion Thurston!

(OT>Today is a glorious day! This event deserves a spot in the royal archives!
Champion Thurston * I dub thee, Champion Thurston! *
    Ruler>Happy One Year, Glimmerwood!

Parts 1-3 The Legend of Sabina Faire
    Spoiler: show
THE LEGEND OF PRINCESS FAIRE, PART 1
Now hear the tale of Princess Faire, whose sisters loss her father grieved,
And swore that to the afterlife his other daughter wouldn't leave.
He built a magic tower stout in stone and spire and winding stair,
And at the apex did he seal for all her years the Princess Faire.

There she stayed with living dolls and talking books that read themselves,
As feasts of cake and strawberries were served to her by hidden elves,
And though she wished for someone else with whom these blessings could be shared,
Each new day stretched into the next without a friend for Princess Faire.

THE LEGEND OF PRINCESS FAIRE, PART 2
And so the weeks turned into years, each passing day just like the last,
Throughout the tower she explored, and everywhere her gaze was cast
No door, no lock, no key - there lay no passage from her fathers lair,
And so behind the unforgiving stone remained the Princess Faire.

Her bedroom was atop the spire, a single window peering down,
Her eyes judged keenly, as she groomed, the fatal distance to the ground,
She saw with rope it could be done, and conjured that she d grow her hair,
And so were filled with azure skies the eager dreams of Princess Faire

THE LEGEND OF PRINCESS FAIRE, PART 3
When her locks had reached a length of head to toe and back again,
She laid a foot upon the sill and faced into the restless wind,
But then the stillness was undone by echoes in the tower lair,
Her fathers voice throughout the halls: You shall not leave here, Princess Faire.

A fathers gift, her strands of gold - remembrance of her sibling gone,
Peerless but for one device upon which evenings gleaming shone:
A wizards firm and grasping hand clutched round a Magic Scissor there,
And so she lept into the night. Made free at last, the Princess Faire.

    Princess Sabina Faire pg.2
When history is old enough, it becomes legend. Read the legend...find the answers.

The Baron: The noises in the Glimmer Wood are getting WORSE.
Ruler: What is it now? Not Thurston again...
The Baron: Singing! Spooky, ethereal, beautiful singing!

(baron>I don't like it at all. It's making me feel feelings.
    1. A Mysterious Song *find the mysterious singing-we can't have the Baron feeling things.*
baron>There! The singing!) *expand to the girl with the tangled tresses*

Girl: Is someone there? I hear footsteps!
Are you a fire-breathing dragon? Here to eat me?
Ruler: Umm...no. No, I'm not a dragon. Why would you think that?
Girl: It's in all my books! If a princess gets trapped, there's often a dragon!
Ruler: Weren't my footsteps a little soft for a great big dragon?
Girl: I thought you were a really tiny one! The tiny ones are extra mean!
Ruler: Alright, well- let me help you get untangled. That's quite a head of hair!
Girl: It won't work. Mine is no ordinary hair. It's always been tough to handle!
Ruler: It's ok- if I just separate these knots... Hmm? It's like pulling on steel. I didn't expect that.
Girl: I told you! I'm trapped by my own tresses! Locked away by my locks!
Stranded by strands and curtailed by curls!
Ruler: Ok, ok-stay calm. I'll try to figure something out.
Girl: Wait! Before you start thinking too hard?

(girl>Could I trouble you for some food? I've been rooted here for days and I'm just about to faint from hunger.
    2. Hungry For Freedom *give - cabbages, hearty stew, breaded fish. (girl>Umm...what's this?)

Ruler: It's food. We've got some stew, fish, and...
Girl: But I've never seen cakes like these before! And they smell so strange!
Ruler: "Cakes like these?" Just who *are* you, anyway? What's your name?
Girl: My name is Sabina. Princess Sabina, actually. Princess Sabina Faire.
Sorry for not telling you my name sooner. It's my first time. I forgot.
    Ruler: Your first time what?
Sabina: My first time meeting another person!
Ruler: Wait. Like, *ever*? Where were you before you came her?
Sabina: In my tower, of course. I spent every day there. This is my first time out.
I have to tell you, it's not working out very well so far!

Ruler: Ok, Sabina. I have a million questions, but first, about this food...
Sabina: Yes, it's very strange. This chocolate has an uneven texture. And this cake is?
Ruler: That's not chocolate, it's mutton. And that's not cake, it's fish.
Sabina: I don't understand. There are foods that aren't chocolate and cake?
Ruler: Well, yeah. You uh... you've never tried any of this stuff?
    Sabina: ...
Ruler: I guess not. Listen, I know you're scared. I'm going to try to help you.

(Sabina>You mean- you could find some food like I had in my tower? It would be so nice to have something familiar!
    3. Discriminating Tastes *give - cake, strawberries *(Sabina>That looks more like the food I recognize! It even smells right!)

Ruler: Now that starvation has been avoided, we can work on getting you loose.
Sabina: Yes. I'm afraid my hair seems to have taken on a mind of it's own!
It happened all of a sudden, as I was exploring this wood.
Ruler: This isn't the first strange thing to happen in the Glimmer Wood.
Hmm... even if I pull with all my might, the strands won't separate. Sabina, we may need to take drastic measures.
Sabina: You mean like... a harsh shampoo?
Ruler: Not quite. We may need to cut some of these strands to set you free.
Sabina: But-but...but...I can't lose my hair! It's the only reason I'm here in the first place!
Ruler: Not all of it. Just enough to get you loose.

(Sabina>I've been brushing and styling this hair since I was just a little girl. It hasn't been cut in nearly sixteen years. Isn't there some other way?
    4. Cutting Loose *forge new Longswords, saw hair slowly, chop carefully, swing wildly*
(Sabina>I can't bear to look. Is it working?)

Ruler: This doesn't seem to be working. In fact, I think all the swords are dull.
One more swing... nngh! Wow...still not a strand out of place.
Sabina: I suppose there's nothing to do now but wait for my knight in shining armor!
Ruler: You have a knight in shining armor?
Sabina: Well, not *yet*. But whenever a princess is in trouble, one always shows up!
It's in all my books! I assumed it wasn't you because?
    Ruler: ...No shining armor?
Sabina: Yes! But I'm sure a knight would solve all of our problems!
Ruler: Wait, Sabina- what exactly do you know about knights?

(Sabina>According to "Princess Cordelia And The Dragon", the world is full of knights in shining armor,
and their main job is saving people! I've read it a thousand times! Maybe you could find a knight?
    5. Chivalrous Methods *ask Thurston to help* (Thurston>My liege! What can I do for thee?)

Thurston: Ah, my liege! What can I do for thee, on this so fine day?
Ruler: Hi, Thurston. I could use your help, but you must promise not to be too excited.
Thurston: Why would you expect I'd get too excited?
Ruler: I just know you're the sort of person who gets excited by certain challenges.
Now, do you swear that you'll remain calm and think it through?
Thurston: Swear an oath? Why, one of my finest talents is to swear and keep oaths!
For Rule 121 of the Knight's Code says:
"Break thee no sworn oath, lest ye be tarred and feathered."
Ruler: Ok, As long as you're sure. This is a difficult problem. I need you level-headed.
Thurston: Aye! On my word, I shall be steadfast and calm. A citadel of contemplation!
    Ruler: You're *really* sure?
Thurston: Aye. I'll do nothing rash. We'll plan every move.
    Ruler: You're *really*, *really* sure?
    Thurston: Aye.
Ruler: Ok. So, here's the deal...
A princess has wandered into the wood and she's become trapped by-

Thurston: A PRINCESS IS IN TROUBLE?!
MY SWORD! WHERE IS MY SWORD? TO ARMS!
Fear not, gentle maiden, for I will rescue thee!
    Ruler: *sigh*

(thurston has run off rashly. Track him down and explain the situation.
    6. My Hero *track him down-should have know this would happen*
(thurston>My liege! Let us not tarry here! There's not a moment to lose!)

Ruler: Thurston! You promised you wouldn't get all excited and run off!
Thurston: Aye. But...a princess! In distress! My Knightly instincts overcame me.
Ruler: I suppose there's a rule in the Knight's Code about princesses?
Thurston: Indeed, more than one! There are forty-seven!
Ruler; There are *forty-seven* rules about princesses in the Knight's Code?
Thurston: Aye. And princes. The Knight's Code does not discriminate.
Rescuing royalty is one of a Knight's most sacred duties!
Ruler: Alright. I forgive you. But now I really need you to think.
Our princess is trapped out in the wood. Trapped by her own hair, in fact!
I tried cutting through it with a sword, but it was no use.

Thurston: A sword? Surely nay- you'd not cut rope or wood with one. Nor hair, I think.
A stout axe is what's needed! Weighted and sharpened to a perfect edge!
Ruler; A stout axe, huh? Is that anything like a stout knight?
Thurston: Both are better than the non-stout versions! Come, I will show thee.

(thurston> A Knight's axe must use only the finest iron. The haft must be sturdy.
It may take time to achieve the keenest edge, but the results will be worth it.
    7. Contrite Knight *forge 3 Stout Axes*
(thurston>Perfectly crafted! Let's make haste, to release our stranded princes from her bind.)

Ruler: Thomas, have you ever heard of Princess Sabina Faire?
OT: Oh, I should say so. An old story from back when I was a child.
Ruler: Story? What do you mean?
OT: A fairy tale. Hold on, I'll see if I can find a printing of the story.
Ruler: This is so odd... ...
OT: Found it! It's more of a poem, actually. "The Legend Of Princess Faire"!

(OT>Here, take this scroll with you. Read it when you have time.
    8. The Legend of Princess Faire *take scroll* (OT>Go ahead. It's a good story, though slightly tragic.)

    THE LEGEND OF PRINCESS FAIRE
Now hear the tale of Princess Faire, whose sister's loss her father grieved,
And swore that to the afterlife his other daughter wouldn't leave.
He built a magic tower stout in stone and spire and winding stair,
And at the apex did he seal for all her years the Princess Faire.

Ruler: (Could the princess in this story really be Sabina?)
    .... (I'll read some more.)

There she stayed with living dolls and talking books that read themselves,
As feasts of cake and strawberries were served to her by hidden elves,
And though she wished for someone else with whom these blessings could be shared,
Each new day stretched into the next without a friend for Princess Faire.

Ruler: (A sad story. But how could she be the same person?)

    Dialogue Guide - Cocoa goals
    Spoiler: show
IVY: Hey hey!
