Special game offers?

This feels like a silly question but I'm hoping storm8 has thought about us newbies. What happens if you purchase a special offer but don't have the pantry space for everything? Do you lose the extra items?

I'm actually close to finishing the cowboy cookout/frontier challenge but I keep wondering about these pantry item offers.
