It is smart strategically to take advantage of the sales while we have the chance.

After reading your post I immediately opened up B12 (full price), B13 and B14.
I’m now racing to make more permits in time to open up A14.
If I’m successful that’s a saving of 21 Expansion Permits/4 Explorers Permits.

This conversation is making me want to take advantage of the expansion sale as well, but I'd have to start with B10 and I just don't have the resources to get to the plots on sale, much less actually open them. :-( Oh well, expansions aren't really a priority for me yet, anyway.

I bought the Gold mine several months ago. I very seldom get a nugget. It?s usually a gold apple.
Yesterday I bought Royal Lion. No permits or expansion permits. I have never received an expansion permit from anything in my kingdom

I found myself with the same quandary. I had 13 explorer permits that were earmarked for top of my realm and enough enchanted lanterns (47 left). I also had 23 expansion permits and full or near full of wisp lanterns. Griselda’s castle sits on B11 so I was just one space away. Sale is just too good to pass up the discounts. I did need to put out about 1500 Royal point buildings. So full price for B12. Just enough to get B13, 14, and 15. I also did two of the spaces at the top so I could expand my Troll and Faerie areas. Looks like I’ll only have time to get one more plot, A14 (7 expansion permits/23 wisp lanterns) or A15 (9 permits/33 lanterns). Currently I have 6 permits and 34 lanterns and crafting/collecting like crazy. I guess A15 would give me more discount. I’m glad I had as many permits and lanterns, I did try keep at least 20-25 expansion permits before making a new explorers permit. The last expansion sale, I was able to get all the spaces.

So, I would say, it's not worth it to me to spend 125 gems on it, yet I AM glad to have it on my board... and if I didn't have it, I would probably buy it if all I knew was that it had a chance to drop permit .... yet if I didn't have it AND know what I know about it, I would not bother buying it. I hope that's not confusing. To put it another way, there's no chance I'll spend 125 gems on a second royal lion!

I do like how it looks alongside the armored lions. I think I've gotten a couple expansion permits and a few more trade tickets from it. I did collect from it every time it was ready for awhile, now I sometimes skip it. The coin drop amount is very low.

That's my opinion.
