I've noticed that too. On several levels I have had a high score and only 1-2 stars and then I get a lower score on the same level and am awarded 3 stars. It seems like it's based on how much blows up in the game as opposed to points earned. I've found higher scores from finishing with 3-5 moves left than when finishing with 12+ moves left.

Yea I've noticed that too. And I've also noticed that I'm not getting awarded any gems when I complete a challenge. What's up with that?
