Community total at present is 26,500,00, I have just rounded this figure off after 2 days but unsure if the total only reflects on the amount of flowers that we have all earnt of just those who have so obtained the amount of flowers to participate in this event!
I have wondered this myself, if the amount for the community total is all inclusive or all who have reached the point to play for community prizes.
561 at the end of Event Day 2. And that includes benefit of collecting diamondates and one nest just after the event started.

51 hours that this event has been active we have 27,769,000 when to achieve our goal we should have 40,375,000.

Now that I think of it, if I am not getting the 2nd individual dragon and perhaps we don't get the final community prize there is really no need to spend 250 gold on the new habitat. I think S8 just shot them selves in the foot on the ridiculous changes made on the individual side here. Making it too difficult for most is not good business. I am sure there are some who easily get 3000 parts with no issues but most will not be able to do that.
Many will not get to 2850 so they may quit after the 1st dragon. This will affect the total community numbers as well.
I actually don't like the look of the Blossom dragon, so won't mind if I don't get it but I really want the community dragon. Don't think I'll be spending gold on the habitat since I think it looks quite garish.

I will not get to 2850 so I am only working towards the first dragon. I have one nest and to get the 2850 would require me to change how I play and "enjoy" this game. My style is really that of a completer, I want to get my dragons to level 15 and I hate having so many babies, juveniles and young adults around the place. I have loads of dragons in storage whom I hopefully will hatch. I work on developing four dragons at a time , each one at a different stage, one bit of food a day. This allows me to still grow my food storage for any upcoming tales.
I do not want to pay gold for another nest and then waste money hatching dragons just to get my count up.
I too have serious doubts that we will not receive the final community prize, it just is not in the interest for S8 or the community. If not well that means S8 should really look at how they set the targets.
