So far so good, only one loss till now. Hopefully I don't get stuck on round 20 for two whole days again.
I need some help please. I am relatively new to this battling stuff. I have done one tournament before and was only able to get about half way. Now I am up to Black Knight. And I know I have nothing to beat him with. I can spend the gold to knock him out but I'm wondering if winning Fog is worth spending all the gold it will take me to complete the tournament. I really want a champion dragon but if I'm understanding this correctly Fog isn't one. I do get champion dragons from winning in the arena right? Will fog be able to be a great fighter to help me in later tournaments? I am sorry if this sounds stupid but I don't really have any fighting experience. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
Don't use any gold for any dragons in this tournament. It wouldn't be worth it for any tournament boss. This is a good forum to find out what dragon would be good to use against other dragons. I fought a Black Knight dragon in a previous tournament and I beat it with a Lvl. 10 Cursed Rose (black, white, red) with a bash then magic. If you don't have a Cursed Rose then I would suggest a dragon with a similar color combo or use a high level Life or Air.
Now a third of the way through, losses in two of the ten rounds. For those looking for ideas (sadly I'm a little slow this tournament) my full results are on page 3.

I have beaten Black Knight with a level 3 Triceratops (dino) in the past. Like you, I have also used Ultimate when I first started battling. Yes, you get Champions from winning a tournament where the tournament boss is a Champion type. There are also a couple for sale in the Market.
To answer your specific question re Fog, no, Fog is NOT a champion type, he is a black/white hybrid. He will be no better or worse a fighter than any other black/white hybrid, it all depends on you selecting the right battles for him really, plus a dollop of luck every battle. Will he be useful in the arena, as in will you need a black/white hybrid very often? I have used Ghost Armor, another black/white, only 5 (to win) times over 881 battles recorded in my notes, whereas I have used Lightning (pink/yellow) 77 times to win.
You don't need champions to win tournaments - but they can be handy when you are stuck for the right type/rarity/level combination!
I would save your Ultimate strikes for a tournament where the boss is a Champion, unless you really like the Fog dragon.
Don't be afraid to use baby Super and Ultra Rare dragons against the Champions. That quite often works well.
