Crashing and losing lives

I am having problems with the game today.
Earlier, the game sort of froze after I made a match. The match was still visible on the screen, but the candies didn't "fly away" and I could not make another other matches. However, the animations were still going (plus signs floating around, girl at the top bobbing up and down), and the pause button worked. But I couldn't do anything in the game.

After that incident I was able to play some games without problems.

Then, later in the day, I reopened the app to play some more. But now the game crashes every time I start a level. It starts loading the level, and you hear the voice saying, "ready!" (or whatever it says), but the level does not show up on the screen, and the app shuts down completely. Then, when I reopen the app, I have lost a life even though I haven't played a level.

Additional info:
The level that I'm trying to play that keeps crashing and stealing my lives is level 1332
The version of the game I have is 1.5.
I have a version 3 iPad (model number MD370LL/A).
My iPad is running iOS 9.1.

Actually, this still happens occasionally. Very annoying.
