You can only 99 pieces at one time. You would need to craft the dragon if you want more pieces to add.

This game is my disease too. I uninstalled it then came back a year and a half later (that was in July). When I used to play it before, there was no mining, arena, quests, events, spin the wheel or anything other than breeding and I was hooked anyway. Have fun!
