Those only give you a chance for living wood, won't drop everytime but all the drops are good and I agree it's worth using for getting some living wood and other goodies. However you can also craft living wood directly in the potion shops. It takes a lot of wood chopping but if you chop living trees each of those give 1-2 living wood as well so it's worth it. I also do have the living wood tree and like the look of it and felt it has been worth purchase over the year.
For me the combo of these three has allowed me to get enough living wood for about one faerie sap a day towards the goal. I'm not in a rush so happy with this pace. Currently level 4 bulb.
