Same thing here. I made two frosting, but that didn't clear the quest. I'm on android.

When I downloaded this event, it created a second game on my droid. I can play both versions. The original game won't let me make the birthday items, but it shows the ones I've made. Not realizing i had 2 games I harvested icings. When it didn't credit me with completing the quest, I did a force close. When I powered back on I noticed the 2 game icons. Only the event game lets me make the items and complete the quests! So I lost 8 hours of the 2 days I'm allowed for this event, since I downloaded it late!
