I have had the ability to purchase the basic candle in the newspaper or shop since I unlocked the beehive at level 30. As soon as my candle maker was built, the basic candle became locked in shops and can no longer be bought.
Attached is picture of candle locked in a neighbors shop with my operational candlemaker towards the top right corner.

Nothing going to happen. This was reported months ago. It happens if you upgrade the beehive at least once. You lose ability to buy candles, beeswax and honey until around level 34Originally Posted by Meowmeowbeans

Reported this and nothing ever done. Bug was acknowledged and said working on it... About 6 months ago
