Do both recipes (i.e. root beer and root beer float) stay after mastering them? Just wondering what's the reward (other than the plaques) for mastering them? Thought the cozy fireplace decor was the final reward...

They disappear completely once the event timer runs out. You get the fireplace for completing the goal, only the plaques when you master them.
