The reward is Coins and XP so you're not missing out on a special item by not doing this Goal.

What about the adventure that ppl has locked in their castle? Think it was Library or something like that. We that didn't get the Merlin goal doesn't have that adventure. Will we get it?

Everyone will be able to access the adventure Thorny Castle's Library. "Merlin's Scattered Notes" is just one Goal that some players may not have access to. All players do have access to the Goal "Merlin's Library" to go do the Thorny Castle's Library adventure.

If you mean The Wizards Study in the castle, you can't access it. It's not part of the current storyline yet. Unlocking it will be part of a future update.

If that's not what you mean, come over to the Discussions forum and look at the goals via the Game Guide.
