Not an in-game popup but a notification along with other CS notifications. It did have a few emojis in the notification as SW stated.

News Flash! Just had confirmation that there is an update coming this week. No idea what it is, but I know we are all wishing with everything that can be crossed, that it's expansions.

Maybe you will be able to use trade tickets in exchange for prizes in the Baron's tent
Being able to buy a second tinker camp would be nice, or more workshops.
