Vouchers for buying gems

In the (now locked) thread about boutique competitions, someone mentioned prizes that were voucher codes that you can redeems for gems. I've never heard of this feature, but would like to know more. Is it built into the Android and Apple store? Is it a service TL provide? Or is this some complicated process involving other third party services (if it is PM me your answer as TL don't allow third party links in forum discussions)? Thanks!

I manage four boutiques so it sounds like a feature that could be useful as I don't want to have to setup payment details all over the place across multiple devices.

As posted on the locked thread, Team Lava does not offer any type of in game contests or award any prizes including vouchers in game.
Whatever you have seen is also not associated with Apple or google play.
