I'm not sure what the social rating does, so I don't bother with that part, but I do gift Earth wisps as well as respond to friends' requests for help with quests everyday.

Your social rating goes up when you visit other players' kingdoms and tap on hearts. When you do this they get a bonus the next time they collect from that building. If they are nice they will visit you back and the buildings they tap on will sparkle. Also, when your social rating goes up your kingdom will be listed higher in the community for anyone looking to visit a random kingdom. I've found that this ranking is only important in games like Farm Story 2 where people can buy and sell from each other.
