Sloth disappeared when I tried to place it in habitat

I won the 40th battle and the sloth was placed in my storage. When I tapped to place it in the habitat, the sloth disappeared from storage and did not appear in the habitat. It's just gone. I am running 4th gen ipod iOS 6.1.6 which is most current - rebooted it and still no luck. really bummed.
