Pink alicorn and disappearing energy

For the last few days I've noticed that while my pink alicorn gives energy that it does not actually give it to me. The orange lightning bolt will appear and disappear saying +5,+50, etc energy but my energy level will remain the same!

I'm using an iPod touch 4th generation with the latest software update installed.

The full grown Pink Alicorn can provide varying amounts of energy, including enough to put you beyond full. If you are having trouble with this feature, you may want to try restarting your device, or uninstalling then re-downloading the game. A fresh download will clear out your app cache, and that should clear out any lingering issues.
