After all I went through mined and collected to get that far, the timer is the straw I was looking for.

I just waited until the time was over it will give 20 enchanted essence I already had enough so I just waited until it expired and then got to the next step. Remember they said if you run out of time there's still a way to get what you need it would just put you ahead if the pack. But really it doesn't matter if you skip or not because everyone is still waiting on a prism.

Exactly. Just let it expire and continue to the next step. You're not required to complete the timed parts. The goal continues when that part expires.
