There was an article some time ago that questioned why the colder countries seemed to have more growth, more industry, less crime. The theory put forward was the cold weather. People, by necessity, in these places learn to work harder to get anything. To get to work in the winter, it takes more energy, determination and is a greater struggle. They appreciate the warmer weather so they tend to make the most of it. They end up spending more time with their family because of necessity etc etc. so the family ties tend to be stronger. It was an interestiing article.
Whether we would have less crime if we had colder weather...i don't know. Jamaicans think they will melt when it rains. You will see people running for shelter when it rains here. They do not show up for work...because it is raining. And yet, people will go looting in the middle of a category 4 hurricane. Zinc and all sorts of things are flying through the air and they will go grab a shopping cart and steal DVD players and big tvs and microwaves. In.the.middle.of.a.hurricane. My people my people. I suspect they would adapt if temperatures plummeted. :-(
Resting and relaxing at home. No way would I get up thinking I had to go back to work on the 28th, shower, go to work, look at the holiday schedule and discover I have till the 30th off then take a taxi straight back home. Nope I wouldn't do something like that :-P

I can tell you that everything would totally shut down here if we had one snowflake fall.
Story time!
So while I was walking home today I passed by the elementary school. There is one duty teacher who is very self obsessed, and that's a nice way to put it. Anyway as I was walking home there was a little kid, I'd say in the second grade, and she was crossing the street at the parking lot exit and that was when that same duty teacher put on the gas and charged towards the second grader in her car. The girl ran away and started crying while the duty teacher was calling "you could of got ****ed." Now I'm standing by the fence totally in shock. How could that duty teacher do that and not feel bad that she almost ****ed a second grader? I emailed the principle about it and I'm still waiting on a reply

It sounds like the girl was jaywalking, rather than crossing in a crosswalk. That seems to be a Canadian thing. just kidding.
She might have been trying to teach the girl to not jaywalk, but she did it recklessly and could have ****ed or seriously hurt the girl. Its good that you reported the incident. Hopefully the girl will tell her parents, who will also contact the principal. It helps that you reported the teacher purposely speeding up, because she will probably deny it.
