Level 82: Clear 2 caged fruits in 12 moves. The way it's set up, you need to clear the purple (grape, plum?) fruit first, since it blocks the path for the red (strawberry) fruit. Once you link the purple key to it's matching caged fruit...they'll disappear, and you can work on the red.

This level has snow-covered fruit that need to be "unfrozen" (at least some of them,) as well as some stumps in the way. You'll need to check your own board for the best moves, but I took some screenshots while I played the round just now, to show you a step-by-step example. 1st: You want to start with a board with some good moves. Examples: matches of 7-or-more to create blasters, fruit chains (FC's) that hit/help clear obstacles...like stumps & frozen fruit. Another good thing to have is the right colors near the key/cage you're trying to link, which would be purple in this example (so purple fruit next to the key and/or cage is a head-start in the right direction!) If you don't have a couple good moves/attributes to your board, hit the pause button to bring up the menu, then restart the level. It doesn't take an energy as long as you didn't touch anything; why waste moves when you can start with what you need?

Here's the way the level starts (notice I have a couple purple fruit by the key--a head-start!):

Right away, I see there's a nice long chain of green watermelon that will "unfreeze" some fruit & create a blaster (choosing the direction that will create a vertical blaster, in hopes of blasting the column the stumps are in--since they need a couple hits. If you're unsure how to control getting vertical vs. horizontal blasters, see this thread.) In the 2nd shot above, you can see I created the longest green FC I could, choosing the downward path, so I'd end in an up/down motion (to get a vertical blaster.)

Tip: the frozen fruits count towards the "7 or more" in your fruit chains to create special fruits (blasters, bombs,) but they do not clear stumps or other obstacles until they've been unfrozen. Tip 2: The keys & caged fruit count towards the "7 or more," too...though they do not clear/disappear until you've connected them together... Also, the frozen fruit, keys, etc. do not earn points, or at least the full-score you'd expect from regular fruit, anyway (from a 7+ FC.)

In the 1st photo below, you can see where the blaster gets (randomly) placed. The 2nd shot shows how I use it to start wearing down the stumps:

The next shots show the board "post-blaster." In the 2nd pic, I select red fruit at the top:

Taking out the reds removes a stump & drops the green fruit down a bit (1st pic.) I selected the red FC before the green one (2nd photo) to allow more greens to fall--wanted to get as many as I could. But in this case, it didn't seem to matter...

Getting closer--lots of purple fruit! I'm going to take out the blue (blueberries) fruit...see if I get lucky when the stump's taken out & a purple falls in:

Woo-hoo! It did! I now have a path from the purple key to the purple caged fruit. Only one fruit between them...the shortest way to connect the 3. But I'm going to extend the FC beyond the key, making it as long as I can. This will remove as many purples from the screen as possible, and earn more points at the same time.

Yay! Got one caged-fruit cleared--half way to the goal! (1 down, 1 to go!) Pic #1 below shows the board with the entire purple chain gone--from caged fruit to key & beyond. Got lucky, as the red caged fruit now has several reds leading away from it. Just gotta get red fruit down to the other side now (leading up from the key.) It's usually easiest to work from the bottom up on this type of level...removing fruit colors you don't need, and trying to get the ones you do! In the 2nd photo below, I go for blue fruit next...

Then more purple fruit (photo 1.) In photo #2, I used a blaster (that hit/activated a bomb) to take out fruit, mainly aiming for the blue next to the key. That spot has to be a red fruit. The shaded area shows what was blasted. I could end up with anything--so I crossed my fingers & hoped "red".

Here's what I got--a nice path from the red cage to its matching key! So lucky, again. I traced the path here in the 2nd photo, but realize now I didn't make the fruit chain as long as I could have. The 4 red fruit I didn't add would've meant another 1300 pts! (See this chart/post for scoring info, including FC point totals.)

Anyway...I passed the level & got 3 stars. You can, too!

    Good luck!

[Done now--I'd been working in Photoshop to fix my screenshots. (Darn them for changing the iPhone app! Can't upload from my iPhone anymore--unless I upload ALL my photos, which I don't want to do. So I have to do it thru my PC; might as well edit/resize there, too.) I'll keep coming back to edit them in...]

In the meantime, check out this Level 14 thread, with some info/screenshots on how to do caged fruit levels...

Hi! Your explanation & help is great, but I am guessing they changed the board in one of the updates since February. My board is very different from the one you have shown.
If at all possible, can you update with new info?
    Please? Thanks in advance!
