Stars not transferring between cases

I went back to an earlier case to earn a star there. When I went back to current case, star does not show up. Can we only earn stars within cases? Why don't they transfer?

Stars earned in a case can only be used towards solving that case. You will need to acquire more stars in a new case if you need to use stars for that case.

Ughhhh! I so wish I had read this before I went back to old cases and earned 7 stars only to find them all gone when I finished all the scenes. Yeah, stars really should transfer.

Stars should definitely transfer! How ridiculous is that?! I play a similar game on Facebook and you need badges to unlock scenes and you get a reward once you get all six badges on each scene. It gives more of an incentive!

What use is a star in a room you've already solved? They really need to transfer.
