There must be something I'm missing

Here's my dilemma. Each time I go to glimmer gate and the glimmer golem shows up, I lose 10 energy points beating him down, but do collect coins. What is the point? Seems like a waste of my energy. Maybe in future quests, it will make sense, but someone please enlighten me.

You get glimmer shards and fragments from them, but the trolls don't appear once you have the showdown with Greselda.

Unfortunately, I am told that I am maxed out on both shards (42) and fragments (40). Not sure why the amount allowed is so low, but for now I will not waste anymore energy on collecting coins.. I will have to wait for the "showdown." Thx for your help.

If you get a different monster than a golem, keep him and the glimmer golems won't show up. I kept a troll until I was ready to deal with Lady G. That way you don't get energy suckage every two hours.
