Did anyone notice in the rules that they are going to issue a 1099? So we are going to pay taxes on the full value of the gems that we turn around and use for intangible goodies in a game! I'm glad that I never win anything.

sweepstakes and lotteries are subject to the law of whatever state/country they're being run in. i don't know what any of those laws are, but that will be why TL had to exclude those residents. given the huge swath of players that got excluded, i think it would have been better to not have a sweepstakes to be more fair. of course, i'm a new yorker, so bitterness may be a factor in my thinking.
I skimmed the rules and it just says 'every dollar spent'...do gift cards count? I used a couple of iTunes gift cards I've been saving to buy some gems today, but not actual money.
