Silly question perhaps but what does the dragon do?

I've looked around for the answer but can't seem to find it. Does the much anticipated dragon give us anything other than cash?

Mainly cash but I have also had coal, jewels and the occasional gem. Also it looks pretty and gets very excited when Ivy, Thomas and the others get near.

It drops coins, coal, dragon scales, longswords, light armour, jewels, earth wisps, energy and gems. The collection time is 22 hours. I think it dropped 5 gems and 10 energy twice for me since early July so expect them to be very rare drops...

As the others have said it can drop nice things from item to time but it's not essential. Take your time in waiting for the egg and other drops. As Bexx85 said you can find more info here.
