Gold Sale

I didn't see a relevant thread about this so I started a new one.

I saw that I had a gold sale this morning. I didn't really pay attention since I no longer purchase gold because of parity issues for my platform, I'm on kindle fire and haven't had an update since October. But I went back in to check to see how much it would cost if I did buy more and it said it was on sale for 82 more hours.

What's going on here? I've never seen a sale for more than a day at a toke so I'm super confused as to why this is happening now?
