    Red Velvet Cake

When making the red velvet cake, are those beets that are being used? Of course there's eggs and sugar, but I have never heard of using the beets for color.

Must be the Food coloring drops (hopefully!!), because that's what I used to make it two weeks ago! Made it from the recipe in Southern Living issue for November I believe.

Beet root was traditionally used before red food coloring, so yes what you are seeing is probably a beet.
