I finally landed on a wheel dragon and then it jumped/loaded and it changed to 50 food and I am left without a dragon. Has anybody else had this problem or was this an isolated incident?

You are not alone. Mine did the same thing a couple days ago. But the last two spins, I wished for food and got gold. So Yay.
