Does anyone have any tips on how to avoid awkward silences.

I don't think that's what the OP meant. The OP I think meant those moments where everyone falls silent and don't know what to say.

Maybe because there not interested in what u r talking. Try to fill up the silence by talking about something else!

Well then ask them somethin. This has happened to me but I just tickled my friend and there was no more of that silentness anymore.
