I need red petals but I'm not getting any ... What do I have to plant?

Those are a rare drop from Patch of Tall Grass, Plant In A Log, Old Log, Bushes, Ferns. You will also sometimes get them from Ivy's Hut. You can confirm this info in the FAQs
