I don't see any difference in drops when I maxed out.
Some people say you can try putting your wells around the Tablet, and have the fish symbol in the Tablet facing South for better drops. I haven't tred it because I haven't had time to decorate

I did ask about that one and as mythbusters would say - "busted"

Why do some people seem to have mermaid scales on their gift list? I have neighbors asking to be gifted mermaid scales, but it isn't a gift option for me ): is it a problem with the game version because I checked, and I'm playing the latest version v1.1.4

I don't believe it is an option. Sometimes people ask for items on walls even though they're not giftable.

Oh, and also get more wells, the more the better! I have 11 wells and 2 ponds. Wells are much better because they take only 1 square and you can collect from them more often. Remember you don't need to buy them in the market, you can craft them in your workshop
