Omg i read this thread and i think BEWARE OF THE DREADED ROAMING CHARGES. I once used my phone for my alarm clock for a week in mexico and BAM! It was a $200 alarm clock. Oops.

Thank you lady, yes .... learned another lesson last year and Amsterdam airport! THought I was using WiFi and my phone started to download some updates - yup it was close to $200. All off this time around, only WiFi.

I can be sitting at home 1 1/2 miles from the border and (in the middle of the night usually) I get a message that says "Welcome to Canada!" and something about roaming charges may apply. I now have my phone set to reject those messages.
