I did the colour thing but it didn't show up when I tried. Its all so confusing.

If you are talking about like what I just did in the above post then, go to that page you would like to put the link for and copy the url then paste it in your message.

Avatars would be really cool, as long as they're not the type that move, those are so annoying and distracting, but still images for avatars would be awesome.
