You might be able to ask Support to remove them if you want to log a ticket and ask, but I am not sure whether or not it's possible. There is a dedicated thread about pending invites in the Announcement forum where the announcement has been posted. It's been a while since it was made unavailable. This is a copy of my post from the Pending Invites thread.
closing thread. Further discussion can be made in the master thread. Thanks. SW* Unfortunately this feature is not currently available. This is a known issue that some pending invites may not expire. Unfortunately, there is no ETA when this issue will be fixed.
