Renewed Enforcing of TL Forum Rules - Please Read (1/16/12)
Enforcement of the TeamLava forum rules has generally been on the lighter side, as we at TL encourage our players to be as expressive as possible and open with their feedback. Disputes among players have been generally handled with warnings, with banning only in severe cases.
However, in the interest in preserving a welcoming and helpful atmosphere, we would like to institute a renewed call for players to abide by all of the forum rules. To promote this, we will be enforcing more stringent responses to violations of the forum rules.
Here's how the new policy will be implemented:
[First Offense] Official Warning from TL Community Manager
[Second Offense] Temporary Ban from TL Forums
[Third Offense] Permanent Ban from TL Forums
There are a number of rules that have been responded to with less enthusiasm in the past, but will be monitored and responded to more closely in the future. Among the forum rules we encourage our players to follow more closely are:
* Defamatory Material
Posts and/or private messages that, in any manner whether directly or indirectly, defame any other user and/or any TeamLava Studio employee, officer and/or director.
* Discussing Disciplinary Actions
Posts and/or private messages that, in any manner whether directly or indirectly, discuss disciplinary actions taken by TeamLava against any user (including the poster.)
* Harassing Material
Posts and/or private messages that, in any manner whether directly or indirectly, repetitively insult and/or otherwise harass any other user and/or any TeamLava Studio employee, officer and/or director.
* Flaming, Trolling, Spamming
Posts and/or private messages that, in any manner whether directly or indirectly, involve any of the following activities:
- Excessive communications of the same phrase, similar phrases, or gibberish.
- Creation of undue discontent on the forums.
- Creation of disturbances in forum threads, such as picking fights, making off topic posts that derail the thread, insulting other posters, etc.
- Posting non-constructive comments.
- Abusing the Report Post button by sending false alarms or nonsensical messages.
- Numbering of a thread, IBTL, TLDR, etc.
- Bumping threads.
- Creation of ?First!? posts.
- Posting of off-topic comments.
- Creating Duplicate Threads
Posts and/or private messages that, in any manner whether directly or indirectly, create new threads about existing topics or separate threads about an existing topic for further discussion in more than one forum (e.g., cross postings.)
- Cross Linking
Posts and/or private messages that, in any manner whether directly or indirectly, contain links to threads from other forums unless previously approved by a Super Moderator.
Posts and/or private messages that, in any manner whether directly or indirectly, contain any advertisement that has not been authorized by TeamLava.
- Disputes With Others:
You are solely responsible for your interaction with others that you come in contact with through the Site. However, we reserve the right, but have no obligation, to monitor and/or manage disputes between you and other users of the Site. If you have a dispute with other users, you release the TeamLava Parties (defined below) from claims, demands, and damages (actual and consequential) of every kind and nature, known and unknown, arising out of or in any way connected with such dispute.
Addendum to Disputes With Others:
If you object to any content posted by another user, and/or would like to report another user of violations of the forum rules, please do one of the following:
- Send a Private Message to a TeamLava Community Manager [TL Employee]
- Send a Private Message to a TL Player Moderator
- Post in the Forum Disputes section
Please note that this is an exhaustive list; do not report other players through any other means, especially by responding to that user in-thread (the exception being for TL Player Mods and TL Community Managers only). Please note that responding to other players in thread about forum violations will be treated with the same severity as a forum violation; please report other users through the proper channels only.
Furthermore, please note that the final interpretation of violations to these rules is at the complete discretion of TL Community Managers. You can seek clarification from any TL CM regarding any rule listed above.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these rules, please let one of the TL Community Managers know via PM or in the Forum Disputes section.
