Real Cost of GEMS (US$)

I haven't seen any other posts comparing the cost of gems. The game designers seem to adjust the "cost" (in gold) of animals and other things in the game, quite often. I wonder if they're messing with gems too?

Here is what is showing on my device (Ipod Touch) :

On a similar note, it might be interesting to list the real dollar cost of all of these gem animals. For example, one panda costs according to the exchange table above more than $20! I think a list of all the critters that cost gems and their real dollar price would highlight some travesties of the gem system in the game and make people realize how much money the developers are trying to entice you to spend.

They do it so you sort of get a deal for more.

Like original price is $5 of something, then there is a sale like you if you buy 5 then each is $3, instead of $5.
