    Quick lesson of the day

I'm nitpicking, but I can't, in good conscience, sleep unless I supply knowledge for a pastry wrongdoing.

It can't ( or shouldnt) be called a trifle unless it's in a container of some sort ( bowl, glass, etc ) Free standing on it's own, as it is, I guess that just makes it a Celebration Cake.

    That is all.

I was wondering if there was a difference between a trifle and a cake.

TeamLava is not to be trifled with!

Thanks for the lesson. Trifles are a favorite dessert of mine.

That is really quite interesting. I always thought trifle was just a much fancier word for cake!

Well, they are being trifled with anyway. Like my Fruit or Veg thread.
Now, I wouldn't mind trifling with my team, as chances are I like them.
But trifling with lava might be another matter...ouch!

Welcome to the school of TeamLava, where we pick up on every slight error that anyone ever makes. Ever. Lol. See TL? SchoolStory would be great! And then we could nickname it TeamLava LLC's Steam Ship

Trifles are certainly different ! I believe the whipped cream/custard is more commonly the star of the trifle show, whereas in cake you'll find bigger proportions of well, actual cake.

It's true. I really thought TL didn't have their hands full with 'Android Spring' 2011, so I figured I could add an additional complaint about updates we already received just to balance things out.

I don't think I've ever actually had trifle. Is it common in any part of the US? I always think of it as a Harry Potter sort of food. <hagrid>sounds dead delicious though</hagrid>
