Must be close. There are crafts that open up in the potion shop from level 7, so you must have not done one of the first goals to completion. Have a look through the Main Story guide at the first few posts which are all the beginning goals and see if you can work it out. If not, I'll be back next Monday to help you more.
The pre-req I do know is that you have to expand to Ivy, the "tree lady" and unlock her first and then so you can build the Potion Shop
