You will need 8 Tomes of Strength made in forge to expand. Each tome requires 12 of the trial things dropped by Harpies. Harpies spawned by regular bushes. You will also visit Thomas house after they talk about it.

It doesn’t spawn every time; I am getting the occasional Skunkupine. But on my last run through my 60 some Bushes, I spawned seven Harpies. That was a lot for me: usually three or four.
My Ivy's Hut is not dropping Holy Herbs either. I gemmed ahead several times, and nothing. S8, could someone please check to make sure that this is not a glitch. Since it is needed for the timed part, it should be dropping now. Thanks!

After making the first Tome of Strength in the forge, the plot moves on. You will need to collect from deep mines, so don?t collect until you are asked to.
Ivy’s hut starts dropping holy herb after collecting the first totem of strength….
